    Default Hiking the AP trail wireless

    Hi I am planning on hiking the Appalachian Trail from NY to South Carolina.
    I want to be able to download torrents as I go. I don't want to carry heavy laptop.
    I am thinking maybe a mini-laptop with a mobile internet provider. On the Trail you are normally no more than a day hike from civilization so cell phone towers and reception should be pretty much available.
    For sure I am not going to be hitting any wi-fi hot spots so I will need a mobile provider and some kind of hardware to plug into example min-laptop etc.



    I'm sure there is something that could work. I really appreciate any suggestions.

    Most of the new thin-and-light Thinkpads have options for built-in cellular data devices, and last a good long time on a charge. You might consider one of them if it's not out of your price range, since they'd be most likely to stand up to the abuse of the Appalachian Trail.
