Thread: Best/Worst PC Manufacturer?

Hey TI,

I realize this is all based on opinion, and that everyone has had different experiences, but I was interested to here your opinions on what the best/worst PC manufacturers are. Basically, if you had to purchase a laptop today, who would you purchase from and why?

I bought into dell in 2007 with an XPS gamer rig and a notebook.... never will I buy a Dell again.

Mainly because they use proprietary parts that can only be replaced will dell brand stuff...

For the notebook at first the mouse touch pad was absolute garbage. Then the headphone jack went out. Then after that the screen started to flicker when moving the lid... oh man it had problems.

In my XPS I tried to upgrade the motherboard, impossible to do as their motherboards are made ass backwards than normal ATX motherboards. Then I tried using the power supply in the new PC I was building... first off I couldn't even get it out of the case without dismantling the case itself... and it uses totally different power cords >_> wtf

If you are buying a Desktop PC, just build it yourself. With all the online guides now its easy to do, its like putting together a puzzle and really fun and worth it in the long run. You might end up spending the same amount of money but you will get a more Powerful PC in the end for the same price.

DO NOT BUY ALIENWARE EITHER... its just a giant overpriced custom PC with a huge hunk of plastic around it to make it look cool. I also had one of these before I bought Dell in 2007.

As I suggested in your other thread for notebooks I recommend the Acer Aspire One series. It's the lightest, thinest, and easiest to dismantle. Just find a service manual for your model and you are good to go.

the worst pc brand : toshiba

in mid 2006 i bought this 15inch lappie frm toshiba since that day i have only been experiencing trouble.
after a week of usage(lyk normal internet only ,no movie watching etc) the laptop used to get so heated up and goes heywire.
then i got my self a laptop cooler,ok now the heating problem is gone for now!,

later my mic jack stoped working, i dnt know wat in the world went wrong tht my mic jack stoped working wen i had to do a internet call only :@.

there was this nice glossy touch pad on it with alll the play,pause,rewind,mute touch buttons - now none of them work it just used to light up.

last of all is the worst ever scratch making dvd drive, omg this drive was crazy the moment i put a dvd in it reads it fine for a 1sec or 2 and then BAAm it strats making
tht wied sound and when finnally u chck ur dvd its full of scratches .

btw this all hapnd in 3.5 months time.

after tht i just threw tht piece of crap in da bin!

and now im chillin wid a nice HP pavillion dv5-1299ee -----> seriously the best laptop brand man ever made. :D

I'd also have to add dell here. Had a company with 40 laptops all Dell, break one after another. they had to replace motherboards every week.

And this was during warranty. Used to love HP, but they are slacking.

For now I'd recommend Lenovo, especially the IBM legacy part.

And try to run away from Acer Laptops,every second model has a overheating isssue and after a year or two the gpu goes to hell,and you can throw it into the trash

My Recommendations: Lenovo,ASUS,Toshiba,Apple,Samsung,MSI

I'd go with HP and then wipe the drive to get rid of all the shit they put on their laptops.

HP: Bloatware!

HP and Dell are the real PC manufacturers, it only their PC's that are worth the amount they charge. Rest all just take purchase amount for their brand name,

can someone tell me if cyberpower pc is any good? I'm thinking of buying one from bestbuy (gxi240) but im not sure if these are good since i've never heard of them before. and its been kind of hard to find an actual review for one.
