Default What Video/Audio Converter do you use?

There are so many out there and I just want to be able to use one app for each part. I'm looking for a excellent Video Converter application and same with a Audio Converter. For Video Converters, I have ConvertXtoDVD, Xilisoft Video Converter, Anyviewsoft Video Converter, etc. With Audio, I have Xilisoft Audio Converter, AVS Audio Converter, etc.

I'm just looking for "1' application for each. Let me know what you guys use and what you recommend...

    Thanks -droidlover

I use either DVDdecrypter or ANYdvd to rip DVDs and Blurays.
After they are ripped, I encode with a variety of tools. Usually if its a DVD I'll just use handbreak.
If its a Bluray I always use MeGUI.

These days I hardly convert anything anymore. It's all pretty much downloaded in the format that I want.

With educational stuff I usually convert to my iphone. For that I use Handbrake

I'm using nero, convertxtodvd, imgburn, and I dunno- a few others. It doesn't seem that any program can handle all of the formats that I want it to. So I'm currently using convertx and imgburn (for the isos)

Looking into music ones, but havent made a decision yet.

This poses a big challenge in the video world.
You can, but it doesn't work flawlessly. When converting from PAL (25fps or 24? I don't remember 100%) to NTSC film (29.976fps) it sometimes replaces original frames with duplicates. This leads to some jitter, which is a sort of jerking that happens when some frames (the duplicates) are shown longer than others. Its really not possible to have a flawless perfect conversion due to the source video being encoding at different rates.

I've heard great things about Nero Recode.
Despite a few problems, Nero Recode PAL to NTSC conversions are watchable, if not quite as good as they could be. And it's probably the tool with the least amount of setting you will have to fiddle with.

    MeGUI!

I thought every DVD player played both PAL and NTSC. Every system sold here does, maybe thats not the same world wide. Might be your TV, though any LCD/LED/Plasma shouldn't have any issue with it.

It won't be because of the region lock, thats stripped away when the disk is ripped.
