I like teamviewer because of their desktop program. It makes it really to connect to other computers. You don't have to open your browser, go to a logmein site, and so on. Teamviewer mobile app is also much better.

I personally use RealVNC over a VPN but some reviews says UltraVNC is better.

    Depends on what I'm controlling.

For a windows box, nothing beats terminal services. VNC just uses far too much bandwidth.

For linux I use SSH. I don't do linux guis

I also use RealVNC paired with Hamachi. The setup is a lot easier although you need an additional program running in the background.

I have also heard that UltraVNC is better but I have a better experience with RealVNC.

I've been using RealVNC for years and is definitely my favorite. Back in high school I could remotely install a silent vnc server on the networked computers. And realvnc also has the network tools to view all the computers with vnc installed. Connecting was always painless, just needed a internet connected device.

I even have a vnc server installed on my iphone haha
