Default Western Digital Green HDD Question

I'm looking into buying this harddrive. I just came across it, and it's a good deal 2Tb for $99
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EADS 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I already have a solid state drive for my windows boot, and I would be using it for data. Movies and TV shows mainly. My question is does anybody have prior experience with this drive? Or any energy efficient drives for that matter. Are they really slow? Do they have slow transfers? Like if i move files around from HDD to HDD. Is this particular HDD reliable? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    (1) Green Drives are for storage purposes only.
They will give up early with heavy use.
    (2) Blue drives: Average
    (3) Black drives: Best performance.

Do you plan to seed from your new drive?
I suggest getting a Blue or Black instead.

The one drive is 3 months old and the other is 10 months old. Both running fine and no complaints :)

    My setup is as follows
    SSD - Boot, programs
WD Black - Data and everything else
    Seagate - Same ^^
And the green would be strictly for data

Thanks for the help, and I decided to get it. I'm gonna grab it tomorrow. My main worry was speed and 100mb/s was what i was getting on my black.

If you read the feedback in the Newegg you will find many complaints about the reliability of the WD Green series HDDs. I don't use one personally so i just rely on buyers comments.

Yea i noticed there were 90 one egg negative comments about this drive. On almost every HDD there is negative comments although 90 is a bit high. I figured they just got a bad batch, and i shouldn't worry. I'm gonna take a chance though on this one. I hope I am right.

You can get a samsung spinpoint 2TB from superbiiz for $76.49 before shipping with promo code PADDY15.

Its the same specs w/ 32mb cache and 5400 rpm. I love WD but I've had a couple samsung drives for 10 years with no issues except they're way too small now XD.

The samsung 2tb are great. If you look at the Newegg.com reviews for western digital green and spinpoint 2tb you can see that the samsung is highly regarded. I've been using a samsung 2tb for over 2 years and haven't had any problems. And a plus side is that it is fast for a 5400 rpm drive.
