Yeah thanks thats really why i suggested that trading question. Dont know about irc interviews though, both ways might work, though i think that doing both intros and irc interviews for everyone could be very cumbersome. Maybe, we could have the option of calling in to the irc the people with whom we are not satisfied, but just rep in the people who have good intros?

I've seen this IRC interview discussion on the irc channel a couple of times already. I think there is enough animo to make it feasible. I for example would definitely be willing to help out, I'm on IRC a lot.
The good thing about an IRC interview is that you have to give your answers within a certain amount of time, it's hard to lie or cheat. It also has a more serious status, people will be entering an interview much more prepared than when they just have to fill in a questionnaire and see what happens.
