So I have noticed that I have been spending far less time in the intro section than I used to, and I haven't been repping people in. I've found this to be for two reasons. First, because there are a number of capable users already doing much of the repping in, which is absolutely a good thing. Secondly, it has to do with the amount of rep I give.
I know there are a number of people with 5+ rep, and I've gotten to the point where I pause before I rep someone in since I feel like it is unfair to give new users a lot of rep to begin with (it allows many of them to get to 33% on post count alone - which is unfair to many others who don't get the initial boost).
So I ask other users who have a fair amount of repping power - what do you consider proper repping etiquette?
I also know that there has been a few suggestions of some how making the initial rep in be only 1 rep which I would like to bring up again. Some solution that is easy to code and get in place would be ideal for all parties. I see that it could be:
-The first positive rep someone gets is +1 (though that has some weird issues that could crop up if someone neg reps a user)
-All repping (or all posititve repping) done in the intro forum only counts for 1 rep point
-A thanks button that only appears for the first post of a thread and if a user is 33% or above (it could be labeled as the rep in button if so desired). What is interesting about this option is that it is made public who is repping the user in (whether that is a good or bad thing is debatable).
I think a modified thanks button is the easiest way to deal with repping in with inflating a new user's rep early, but I would love to get the community's input on this as well.

Sorry, this turned out to be longer than I thought it would be. I've put the salient points in bold and italics for people who want the abridged version.
