Wink Introduction suggestion, my friend told me?

Hey this is a small suggestion, but one I think is important.

In the intro section there is a question in the template that asks "how did you hear about this site", and a lot of people answer; 'through a friend'.

When I hear that I really wanna know who, just because this "friend"
most likely is part of this site. So for extra security measures it would make sense to find out if the person who referred him here, is part of the site, or if the person who referred him was banned and for what.

I just think that could help eliminate some scammers. Secondly if could also prove if they choose to lie about how they found this site. Which if they lied about that then, everything else will be a piece of cake.

    What do you guys think?

LOL dude, I've come across quite a few of those, always wanted to ask - Which friend? Is he a current member of TI? Come to think of it, I dunno why I never asked about it, guess I used to pay more attention to ratio proofs & trading opinions.

Yep, we could always ask them that - but they could always come up with valid excuses - like 'my friend who isn't a member but found you guys on google and suggested it to me.', esp. if they were told about this site by a banned member.

Yes, if they were told by a friend, presumably, the friend would be a member of T-I. But since T-I has a referral system, we can presume that if they were told by a friend, they would be through the referral system. If not, then it could be suspicious.

Not everyone of them is smart though. Some of them might actually feel that when you ask "who?" it is necessary to get in to point an user. Anyway, it won't hurt anyone if you ask that in addition and maybe you'll get rid of at least few scammers before they do any damage.

Thats exactly it, we may be able to weed out some users. Even if they say there friend seen it on google, it doesnt hurt to ask.

+1 for the ideea i'm with it. There could be a rule for actual members: "if you want a friend on TI do not give only the forums link, reffer him to your own refferal link(placed in UsesCP) if he want to register, if the friend is answering "thru a friend" (only like this) and he is not reffered he will not be repped in" or smt like that. As for newcomers they should mention (next to the answer "thru a friend") that by what friend if he is a member or by a banned or no member friend (this could be added on template)

    i totally agree
that would make gettin rid of spammers nd cheaters a much easier task!
thou i think if that was a rule some of the suspicious would prefer not to post in such a thread in the first place!

i think it should be one of the questions to be answerd in the introduction stickies and in details too hence to be repped into the site they hav to answer that
i think that would decrease the number of banned newcomers!
