    Default access to Introductions thread

I think only certain members or members who have been here for 6+ months should have access to the introduction forums. The other day I saw a new member who joined this month with 17 post and 1 rep telling someone they need to add more to their request and kinda bossing them around. This makes the site look bad IMO. Noobs shouldn't be telling noobs what to do. I think TI should have a little more class than this.

Maybe we should have a mod type class (admission rep) with certain members picked to shift through the introductions.

+1 on this. i find it verry anoying when low rep people come in there tell other people what to do and what not.. and its an insult for the people that want to join..

I agree. Maybe 3 months instead of six and make sure their progress is at least 55%

Granted some of the newer members have been zealous in the introduction thread regarding rules etc however I think they do this with good intention and overall with the sites interests at heart.
From an activity viewpoint I think this sort of behaviour should be encouraged as they no doubt feel like they are contributing to the site and are being useful members, god knows its hard enough to make a mark here within our very active community.

And to be honest you really don't need to be here 6 months or so to be able to tell a prospective member that he needs to follow more closely the introduction template or to read the master sticky, someone who's been here 3 months or 1 week for that matter could equally do so, its the understanding thats important.

But perhaps its prudent to define a submod/admission mod for the introductions section to deal with the new introductions, personally I wouldnt go by longevity in the site but more so with understanding of rules and site requirements.

The guy got banned, but well.. I was thinking of it today as well and I thought only staff + VIPs + high reputation members only should be allowed to let newcomers in.

no, we just make it those with 75% or over, because it means that they have 20 REP at least, they've given invites, and they've posted a lot. these people (and above) really know how the site works :)

So you hate when I go in there and try to get people on the right track with their introductions?

I agree with some senority but 6 months is way too much. I a mod now after 3 month it would be something not being able to access the intro:P

I say 1 month tops is a good idea
