Exclamation Adding Question to Intro Template about Trading

I suggest adding a few question to the introduction template that asks something along the lines of this:

"What do you think about trading invites as opposed to giving?"
"Would you trade as a last resort if you couldnt the tracker you wanted any other way?"

This question should not have a pat answer that can be copied, like the other questions in the template. That way, the answer they give should show us how the user thinks and what they are looking for - and it might give us an idea of their character. The questions we have are fine but they don't really give us any insight and a good portion of the time they just copy the answers from the template. This would force them to answer honestly.

Also, just so you know I am not saying that they should automatically be disqualified from joining if they've traded but it would definitely give the reppers more of an idea if they belong here or not.

    What does everyone think?

Is a valid suggestion, and I believe a much better way to judge a person's character and integrity especially with the "Trading Question".

    However,

I'm sure if people actually take the time to read the rules and look around some threads prior to making an introduction they will also realize what they need to write though. They may see the mistakes that other people have done and make sure to not make those same mistakes, in the end you can probably weed out the careless ones.

In case you haven't noticed, lol, most people DON'T bother to take the time to read other intros (unless its to steal someone else's as is sometimes the case) much less read the rules. The ones that DO are the careful ones, and probably the ones we want here anyway.

Anyway, this problem could easily be fixed if we implemented a script that forbade new users from opening any intro other than their own.

First of all I do think it is a good idea as well. But imo the question shouldn't be giving a hint to what the answer should be. So a plain "Waht is your opinion on trading" would be better than "Would you trade if it was your last resort etc etc etc". It's like telling em "we don't like traders answer no".

Good point Mortivore, and I did think of that. However, some people consider themselves to be anti-traders but will do it if they think they can't get the invite any other way. However, the answer to the first question should give us enough clue into their thought process so perhaps that question is enough.

Most definitely would weed out a good or ok amount of traders, still its not completely necessary.

That is really true. In the majority of the introductions the first comment(s) are members telling the person to redo their intro and read the rules and the stickies at the top of the section.

Anyway, I think the first question is a really good idea and it would give insight to what the person is really like. The second question I'm fairly certain that everyone would just say no, because they would know that's what we wants needed to get them into this forum.

Really good idea though hotpinklipstick. :001_smile:

Suggestion Implemented. :) The first question regarding trading has been added to the intro section. Thanks to all who supported this idea!
