Thread: Ways to Lessen the Spam Bots!

The moderating power will be very limited so they won't be able to cause much harm, I doubt high % users will abuse their powers, they already proved to be somewhat trustworthy.

About the second suggestion, users can't just -rep new members with no reason, strict rules will need to be added so if someone will abuse it he himself will be silenced, permanently.

Maybe mixing my two suggestion will work best, give 55% a "silencer rep" that will work only on 0%.
Also, giving positive rep to users who clean the forum can be an incentive for them to do good work and not to abuse it.

All great ideas guys, except for maybe one or two that aren't really viable, good to see the community kicking ideas about!

We're currently working on this matter, it is one of our top priorities. There are several mods available that combat spam on forums which we are looking into and testing.

Hath no fear, we will prevail

It's just a matter of a little patience whilst we find the best solution.

Although some of the idea's are really good, I am pretty if not absolutely certain that members will NOT be getting moderating powers of any kind no matter how limited they are - its the reason we have the staff rank. All the spambots are banned and therefore for that to happen we need to know that they are on the forum in the first place which is where you guys and gals come in with the report post button. Please also consider that the solution should be proactive not reactive, meaning we need to stop it BEFORE its on the forum, not after.

All the above being said, the staff are aware that the spam being generated on the forum at the moment is a pain and a major annoyance, and steps/measures are being taken to reduce the amount. A few different methods are being trialled atm on the test server and hopefully a new and improved system will be in place. All I will ask is please bear with us, and keep reporting and alerting us to any instances of spam that you find.
