Thread: Need a little help :)

OK, I know what you are thinking, what on earth is TG doing posting in here?

Well let me answer that for you. I came up with this bright idea to try and sort out some of the massive guides into something a little more bite sized but I basically wanted to keep it all together - a book if you will detailing all the info.

So what I am after is basically a tabbed table/page whatever you want to call it, like so -

The idea being I can split the intro guide for example into relevant headings to make looking for stuff easier, headings such as repping guide, additional info etc etc. The other advantage being is that it could be used for the likes of the FAQ and the site rules - one neat and tidy package :)



The problem I have is that I can't find anything that does what I want it to do for vbulletin 4. There is an AJAX mod but its for vbulletin 3... and apparently its not compatible, so having run out of options I thought where better to ask than in here.

Any suggestions would be gratefully welcomed, solutions to this query would be fantastic. Please bear in mind this is for the forum, not for my personal use.

Might Tabs Add System for vBulletin 4 (sstab advanced) - vBulletin.org Forum help you out?

It does not have in-page tabs but can give dropdowns ("Rules" tab with subsections as dropdown items)

Bumping this up as TG told me she's still looking for a tabbed table mod that would work well with vb4.1.8 I think it would be a really useful thing to have. The ideal situation would be that all staffers were able to edit the text under the different tabs in the same way they can edit other posts on this forum, that is by opening up some sort of edit box.
Maybe someone can help?

On another forum I use we had the same issue. I share your concern and as a new member I can only look into those sections with confusion.

We eventually ended up just saying fuck it and converting our knowledge base into a wiki. You might want to look into that since there is some good info, although a lot of it is copied stuff just posted for the rep.

An alternative would be to create an "arriving" subsection where new tutorials must be evaluated before being archived in the relevant section, moderating them and preventing people from spamming willy nilly to gain rep.

Well another solution could be to upload the site rules and faq's guides/tutorials in a form of PDF and docx file format, providing a link to download and or view. To few advantages that could be looked into would be:

1-PDF would be easy to maintain and update (even while being offline by staff or mods).

2-Member can download it and use it for referral guide (offline mode). As it does get confusing for new comers who are not famililar with forums, this could also be provided as a download link in there introductions.
