    Default Kit Cars

    Hey guys,
    I'm interested in starting a thread for "super cars/kit" cars.
    These are some of my favorites.

    Sorry to hijack, but that's like where you put the body of another car onto the frame of a different car, right?
    Missing since March 3rd: If anyone has heard from our Japanese friend Oki, and knows if he is okay, please PM JustJenna. Thank you.

    No, not necessarily, Most cars now a days have complete ground-up frames and kits.
    The first 3 cars have their own custom frames, the top one is powered by a I6 engine or turbo Honda, the factory five GTM is powered by a vette engine, etc. etc.
    Nice thing about all these is most these cars weigh about 1/2 of anything else out there and have the same power.

    LOCOST kitcars should be the ones that are made from different car parts, mostly look like Caterhams.

    @Haul. you do know why they weight that much? it's because the shell isn't made of metal, it's made of fiberglass. which is good for saving weight but bad, when you get to a crash.

    buying a ready built kid car is a huge camble. who knows what kind of a bloke hammered it together on his lap.

    Yea, definitely don't want to get into a crash with kit cars... more specifically because the ones I've listed have tubular chassis (which also helps with lightening up the weight of the car). Keep in mind a lot of weight is also shed in not having; windows or lexan windows, no unnecessary wiring, no sound dampening materials, etc. Personally I think the best choice on the face of the planet right now is the Ariel Atom. 0-60 in less than 3 seconds and 0-100 in 6? yes please. Car weights in under 1500lbs... is faster than almost every stock motorcycle out there and handles better.

    @botykorea. there is a difference between kit cars and super cars.

    again, caterham like kit cars (including ariel atom) are meant for trackdays, ie. they have hard suspension and winter resistance is non existent.

    @botykorea
    Such beautiful cars, very fast, very sleek, but 1.5 million is out of reach for 99.99% of the population and for that money I could start up a company that would rival Zonda.
