Default Do/did you drive a beater?

I only got my car back in.. February or March, I think? It's a Civic...... '94, gahhh. Though, I suppose it's not too much a stretch from my parents' 2001 Saturn. >_>

I'm hoping to save up for something a bit newer by next year hopefully.

What did you start with, and was it relatively better or worse?

    Default Civics

Please dont call civics beaters. I love civics. I had a couple back then. The only thing I hate about them is that their easier to steal. I got mines stolen. With the right parts and the right tune, they can go fast like any other car. Thats only if your a tuner and a racer. I have pics of my 2 civics somewhere here on TI. Find them, i think you might like them. One is red, and is a 92 civic, and the other is a blue, and a 00 civic. Tuned with aftermarket parts, has a unique look about them.

The blue one got stolen. :/

Far from being beater cars. Everthing works, power steering, power moonroof, AirCOndition, gas saver, pretty fast car, to overly fast but can keep up with cars without turbo's.

    Thats it. Enjoy.

I drive a '96 accord. I wouldn't call it a beater but it definitely isn't the prettiest car on the block or the best running. But it gets the job done.

Ah, interesting point. It's just my friends make fun of my car because it isn't very pretty... coating is chipping under the windows, the black rim along the windows is all cracked... and the siding over the rear wheels is made of bondo that hasn't been painted yet. Not to mention the ugly cracks and holes in the rear bumper.

It's certainly nowhere near as well-mainted as yours were... And it's really not worth spending the money to repair all the little bits or upgrade the parts when it'd cost more than the car is worth. =S

my first car was a 1989 ford probe turbo. I bought it for $500. It was manual trans and when i put it in gear i could move the shifter all around and it would stay in gear. I totaled it into a tree and then still drove it afterward with no windshield and goggles lmaooooo

    I love civics too. I had a '97 EK coupe EX with a B18C motor and a B16 trans.

I dont drive at the moment, but I had a great beater in one of my previous jobs. It was a work car that I could take home, a Suzuki 3-cyclinder model.

I blew the engine 3 times!!! Not from crazy use, just it couldnt handle A-B daily driving. Then they replace it with a 4-cylinder Holden Gemini from like 1985. Was like driving a Ferrari

    I love beaters!
