Thread: The new cars of WRC 2011

I couldn't find an official thread about Rally cars so I thought I could make one myself and hopefully I'll find other Rally buffs to discuss my favorite motorsport with.

So, if there are any WRC fans out there, what do you think about the new WRC cars for this year's season?

Citroën DS3 WRC






Mini Countryman WRC




What do you guys think of the new 1,6 litre turbocharged engines or the new 6-speed manual transmission?
I really like the mean look of Mikko Hirvonen's Fiesta, especially in Sweden, where he's at his best.

I hate french cars... stupid Citroen... I´m tired of them allways wining...

Bring back the japs, Toyota, Subaru and Mitsubishi !!!

I'm only asking to put the WRC like the 90`s ,great drivers and a lot of manufacturers !

I know what you mean, man, although what I have against the Citroen team in WRC is mostly because of Loeb and Ogier. I get angry every time someone interviews them in English after a completed stage :D
Introducing new cars (at least new models, not manufacturers) should make things more interesting until the drivers master them, too. I guess there's quite some lobbying going on on part of the manufacturers which are standard for the WRC now and that's why we aren't seeing the diversity of earlier seasons.

I didn't know that a Fiesta could look that good. What ever happened to Subaru and Mitsubishi or are they in a different class of cars?

This little paragraph from Wikipedia pretty much sums it up or at least that's the official explanation. FIA introduced some new regulations in the 1997 season and since then the mostly represented manufacturers in the WRC changed to Ford and Citroen following the successes of their teams' drivers.
