Let's have a healthy debate about whether homosexual people should be allowed to get married.

I believe any consenting adult should be allowed to marry any adult that they so choose. There is no reason that the current definition of marriage (one man and one woman) cannot be changed to allow members of the same sex to marry.

My religion says its sinful but I also do not believe that religion has any place in governmental policy. It is not my place, or that of the government, to tell two people that are in love that they may not marry or enjoy all the same benefits that married couples are entitled to. I find it abominable that a gay person cannot make next-of-kin medical decisions about his life partner, should the occasion rise. I also find it despicable that they are not entitled to the same tax breaks a married hetero-sexual is given.



Really, why is their even a governmental debate on this issue? What right do we have to tell people who they can and can't love? In some states (including the one I currently live in) the act of homosexual intercourse is illegal! A person can go to jail for what they do in the bedroom! The laws are out dated so why are they still on the books??

The whole thing makes me sick.

Good, first of all, my strong opinion, is that gay marriage shouldn't be allowed.

Why :

- I don't want my kid to see 2 persons of the same sex, doin' it on the bench of in a park...lol(whatever you do in public with a real girlfriend/boyfriend that is)
- I don't think its normal for 2 persons of the same race and sex, to "mate"( because you can't reproduce-obvious-, and its not naturally correct)
- Its true you can not tell someone who to love, but everything has a limit.


This time jen, you surely will not change my mind :D

If this is whay they choose, so be happy and enjoy. This is their private life and they should do what they like, no one need to get into their private life and to tell them love someone else

I have to agree with the some of the points made by Mman17.

I don't disagree with people in same sex relationships being happy, however I do disagree that they should be allowed to be married. I don't believe that they should be entitled to anything that a heterosexual marriage is.

Be it insurance, tax deductions and so on. I don't personally agree with the "lifestyle" however I have no issues with those who choose to live it. More power to you all in my opinion, however this is something that I do not think should ever be allowed.

Homosexuals are not "minorities" they are everyday people who prefer the company of the same sex and nothing more. I see no reason for "special" treatment because of it. Religiously speaking it is sinful by my beliefs, however I don't preach to them nor would I condemn them for living their lives as such.

Government wise in my opinion they based our government in the early days off of the religious beliefs and I believe that those laws from such should remain intact including "Marriage is between a man and a woman".

I would agree though that the state laws we have about making a private bedroom ordeal illegal needs to be abolished.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

Jenna, I'm truly impressed with your words. I haven't met that many religious people who are as tolerant and open-minded as you are. I'm totally with you on this. We have no right whatsoever to put limits to this particular aspect of the personal happiness of fellow people. Everyone has the right to freely engage in a mutual loving relationship he/she feels happy with, and to express and live their family life in a free and official way and to enjoy any advantages that could bring to them. Life is already hard enough, and we shouldn't make it any harder than it already is for our fellow humans.

I'm even more amazed by what self-acclaimed agnostic Mman17 contends. To be honest, I would have expected to hear a similar flawed argumentation from a religious believer, and Jenna's opinion from an agnostic or atheist. But the exact opposite just happened. It's funny in a way. It's another wake-up call to never think in terms of stereotypes.

Second, it may be "flawed" in your own way of thinking, everybody has its own opinion, so don't go on criticizing about how someone thinks. :P

Well, what you said isn't really an argumentation. You just throw up some easy statements. What is normal? Do you know what normal is? Who are you to decide what that should be? Why should your personal opinion be considered as 'normal'. You don't want to see people of the same sex loving each other, because you don't like the sight of it? Who are you to limit their happiness? Why should you be allowed to freely love your girlfriend? Because you're normal? Do they cause you any harm by being happy? What's it to you? It's a purely biochemical reason which makes these people act like they do and that also counts for your behavior.

My argument isn't a real argument? I've stated why I don't think it should be allowed. Have you seen animals that mate with a partner of the same gender?Of course not. If 2 guys start kissing in front of you, wouldn't you be a little offended?(don't say otherwise, every person is offended even a little bit)

Every person that doesn't have anything with gays or something like that, begin with "who are you to judge" blah blah blah. It Is Unnatural and wrong(at least for me its both). What impact do you think it will have on a child boy, to see 2 grown men making out? Not nice, I assure you. Children are easy to influence.

You haven't read anything, do you? Children are a lot smarter than you give them credit for. Scientific studies prove you wrong. You're just parroting easy popular and discriminative opinions.


Edit: I don't think we should discuss this any further between the two of us. We had some disagreements before this and it's better to just let this go. I didn't mean to be mean by calling your argumentation 'flawed', it's just what it is, flawed. That's all. Have a nice day!
