Since I'm not a christian I can't say anything about christmas , but our religious festival still haven't lost their meaning. People still celebrate it because of what it represents and not make some quick bucks over product marketing.

No, I don't think so. To the general public I'm sure some festivals are just another 'event' but to each person it can have it's own strong and deep connection and meaning.
It's a time to eat, drink and celebrate with major festivals -- Eid, Holi & Easter -- all happening. Yes they have somehow lost their zest, as a pressing race against time and pressures of urban lifestyle are taking a heavy toll on the city's life and the effect in which the festive spirits are being celebrated over the years. I think the Spirit of the Festive season has been taken over by the demands of modern life, or is it just a question of perspective?
as im a Muslim i want to say that people celebrate thier religions event with full passion and joy we enjoy alot
Well religious festivals have not lost their meaning but the actual problem is that we are going further from our religion and so we are loosing interest in our festivals and i think thats the reason that religious festivals seem like that are loosing their meaning.![]()
i wouldn't go to the extent of saying they have lost there value but yes what i would like to say is are loosing there value at an Alarming rate.
Its more out power play eg: who's decorated his home the most or gives a grand feast or can have the most expensive animal to be slaughtered etc.....
the list goes on. which only shows that its more of an iconic moment in peoples lives then upholding a religious value.
Hope we dont completely loose to this loosing war.
