Personally if it were me in the situation, I'd be against abortion. If it was in a consensual relation then one should practice contraceptive methods , be responsible and be prepared. Killing is wrong no matter the age of the fetus. If you don't want/ can't take care of a child then for gods sake take birth control measures.
Exception to when a person is raped or the fetus endangers the mother.

In my opinion, there should be a choice. I wish that unborn children were never killed/stopped from growing, but the mother has a right to decide what she believes is best for herself and/or her child (even if her decision is wrong). I am tempted to say it should be limited, but that would just create a black market for abortion providers which would end up killing mothers as well as unborn babies. It's a hard issue, and I respect the opinions of both sides (pro-life and pro-abortion).

I am opposed to abortion but I think there are some exceptions. Should be permitted when the mother's life is threatened or when she is victim of the rape

This is a knife edge isue and overall I think it would have been better if we did not know how to do it, but once learned nothing can be unlearned. So I would say, seeing as this is a reality we must deal with it. My plan would work as follows: In a live threatening situation, go go go! In a rape or other violent situation, mother's choice with no obliguatory counseling. In case of a normal pregnancy, let this person visit with 3 volunteers who did the same thing, the soul racking deep regret and selfblame and unsertainty of a person a few years down the line might stop some unresponsible person from doing a very stupid thing. But the fact that you only learn from your own mistakes and the quick solution that sociaty provides wil most probably win out in the end afterall. Overall I think it would have been better if we did not know how to do it... :-(

Abortion is acceptable in my opinion, after much consideration of pro's and cons of your particular situation. There should be a required information session by law or something similar with a psychologist to attempt to persuade the mother to not go through with it and make her understand the decision she's making and a view into the biological process involved, once they are informed and have all the facts a decision could be made. However this session should be absolutely neutral and not biased, which could perhaps be accomplished by having someone check on the MD and psychologists giving it.

    something i noted:
    from wikipedia:
"Fetuses are not capable of feeling pain at the beginning of the fetal stage, and may not be able to feel pain until the third trimester."

I checked other sources, so at least it's debatable but it's a very biased topic so I'm not sure. However there it is.

If they find a way to remove the fetus from the woman without risking her life and letting the fetus live in vitro I would support banning abortion, but until then I believe the environment (woman) can decide whether she provides a home for that creature at the expense of her resources or not.

I have one simple rule I live by: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Guess what?

I wouldn't have cared if my mother had aborted me.

I would never have existed. No "trauma" there. In fact, I'm planning on going back to "non-existence" in the future. It seems the religious types are the ones with a concept of baby/fetus heaven, every little soul is precious, etc. Let's say your a mother in a third world country and there's a 95% chance your baby will starve to death. Is it better to have a baby go to term and THEN die? No going "well, there's a 5% chance that it will survive" This means 90% babies ARE dead to your one survivor. Or how about when we can detect to 100% certainty that your fetus WILL die? (it has a malformed heart, etc.)

I personally think that there are far too many factors to consider to actually go "picking" sides on this particular debate. Granted, I am of the opinion to leave the decision to person/s concerned but then those who are facing that situation are the ones who are better placed to deal with the consequences of their actions and indeed they are the ones that have to live with their decision every single day of their life afterwards. I would however, like to think that before anyone made such a decision to abort they have taken the time to think about alternatives and that those alternatives have been placed before them for consideration, rather than it being seen as a quick fix to a situation that may well have been prevented.

abortion can be wrong but it shouldn't be illegal. of course if the pregnancy is too far in then you should let it keep going but in general, there are too many people in the world and if someone was raped, or if someone isn't capable or willing to be a mom, then these people should have the choice to not have a kid. not saying people like me should be judges of who lives or not or that we should be like china but making abortion illegal isn't the answer either.
