I'm rather curious about how these mentioned 'weapon and drug' trades are carried out. . . Okay, money wise, bit-coins give you a layer of anonymity but how do you receive the stuff? You will need to provide a postal address of some sort, right? Or how does this work?
Just by standard mail, weapons sales aren't a big thing in the US because weapons can be purchased relativity unhindered in the US both from FFL and private individuals.
As far as major listings you're not going to see much outside of civilian weapons, because someone who sells military grade weapons isn't going to waste time selling each individual weapon when they can sell large batches wholesale to armies or governments. The listings do exist, but it's not something you going to find listed on the Silk Road.
Drug wise the recipient has plausible deniability and the sender ships from a non-central location like a private shipping center. You can't be arrested for having something that arrives at your home.

Does that silk road thing really work, or do you just pay and not receive?
I can't speak of it first hand, I've never used the Silk Road. I don't utilize any drugs and I live in the US so weapons purchases are legal and easy.
I do know others that have used the Silk Road and received what they've purchased.
The issue with Bitcoins is the fluxuating value, the value changes almost constantly.
I've been thinking about compiling a list of useful Deepweb sites and a comprehensive guide to Deepweb browsing to help users steer clear of CP, gore, ect and to stay as anonymous as possible while browsing.
Anonymity on the internet is nearly impossible to achive, but setting the odds in your favor is always the best choice.

The same way you are sure to receive it from any online market with reputation (because honestly I don't think people count on having months of lawsuits with some e-shop): any serious online store is based on reputation.
As soon as others find out that some particular "store" does not fulfill its part of the deal, they won't purchase anything from it. Interwebz is the fastest environment to spread any information in. This is even more so for the anyone selling illegal stuff.
Then again, it happens from time to time even with legal e-shops that someone does not receive his/her purchase from them or they just take the money and call bankruptcy...
