As an American I don't think the US forced the EU on this on one I think this was much more France and England. As for China and also Russia they are sitting back waiting I don't think to strike I think for America to colapse I'm sorry to say.

But In Obama has just announced his reelection bid which to me means this Libya situation will not be over quickly and also that there will be more wars on the horizon I'm afraid. Obama needs to look tough no matter how manner people die.

Well the Libyan rebels did ask the United Nations for air, but not ground support, many have said that they don't want foreigners on the ground, but since Ghadaffi has been using air support to wipe out the rebels they really stand no chance without help. While this may be about oil, and there may even be some conspiracies that the over throw of these governments was initiated by the west, but regardless, these people in power are terrible people who have been repressing their countries for years. I think it's about time regardless of the motivations.

It's nice to see that the UN showed some balls and started doing something about the Ivory Coast this week.

Thats pretty depressing picture, but one I believe too. I think they will strike Iran the Allied forces thats what they are building up too. They love War, it seems and have no regard for the consquences on people. The cost of living here in Sweden has shot because of the price of oil. It could push us back into deep recession in the West. It seems that their objective War and recession...:(

Because Saudi Arabia is being stingy with their oil, obviously America needs to get it from other places.
    Just stands to reason.

I doubt China will do anything to stop this anytime in the near future.
As soon as there's a more united China when Hong Kong truly comes under mainland China's rule in regards to laws (which won't be for a number of years yet), as well as Taiwan. Then China will become much more of a player on the world stage in terms of pushing for changes in the world.

While I'm not happy with many of the past interventions of the US (as well as other major players), I don't blame the US for the current intervention -as yet-. Even the black ops (CIA helping the rebels) are for me on balance positive- the UN should have chosen sides against Gadhaffi, a proven war criminal of the worst kind, much stronger.

Note that China _was_ already extremely involved with Libya, but on Gadhaffi's side. They had a quite positive image under the population due to them improving the infrastructure, much trade etc. Only when China specifically chose Gadhaffi's side in the UN did their image become damaged, with Lybians starting to boycot Chinese products.

This whole thing is so lol. Just when you see USA claiming to drop the action while moving the navy towards Libya... I mean, it's pretty obvious they want all countries under surveillance of the rich and powerful. I would even dare to believe the civil war at the beginning was invoked by the US and 'the allies'.

Stingy with their oil? Hello there !!! Its their oil they can do what ever they want with it. On the otherhand Saudis invest alot of their oil money in the US and backed the Bush family too. Im not to keen on the house of Saud and would like to see it crumple as its anti-democraatic and anti-women. I bet the CIA will not meddle in their affairs ;)

Tactics like these date back to the stone age and go even further back. They might as well take advantage of it, because in a few decades other nations will be on top. As the saying goes, strike the iron while its hot!
