Thread: Holocaust Denial: A discussion

No one is more sensitive to the plight of the Jews than I am. Several of my ancestors were on both sides of World War II, and the terrible atrocities attributed to the Nazi war crimes fill me with an unbearable sadness. It devastates me to know that I have both Nazi ancestors and Jewish ancestors - that people in my bloodlines were both victim and perpetrator. :-(



That said, I came across a website today that threw into doubt a lot of what I believed to be undisputed fact. This website claims that a lot of the horrors regarding the Holocaust are fictitious, including the death chambers, where so many Jews were executed en masse.

This is an extremely sensitive subject but I would really like to hear thoughts from some of our scholared minds. Please be kind and respectful. Do not make me sorry that I posted this topic. And be sure to read the following link before posting, because if you don't, you will simply make yourself look uneducated.

I'm going to be be really careful what I type as to not lash out but the fact that this can even be a discussion is very disturbing to me - I had naively though that the western world had come a lot further than this. The holocaust survivors are dying off every day and you should have no doubt in your mind that the holocaust happened. believe me. half my family was killed in the holocaust and the other half lived to tell me horror stories about it. Living in Israel this is a very important subject and I've heard at least 5 holocaust survivors tell their story in various occasions from different countrys and different points of you. statistically in 10 years there will be no more holocaust survivors and its up to us to pass on this information.

idk. i didnt read the whole wall of text but they were claiming a lot of facts without any citation. im skeptical to trust some random site, especially one called biblebelievers (christians please dont rage). and right away this site claims that the extermination camps are said to have killed 6 million people, but that is the total death count, most of which died in the time prior. the camps only killed up to 2 million. i really wouldnt rewrite the history books based on this jankey website...

Just taking a quick glance at it, because I don't think it's worth reading, the first few paragraphs are already completely wrong. They didn't find cyanide residue because they didn't use cyanide gas in the gas chambers. The Nazis used good old carbon monoxide, usually straight from the exhaust of a car/truck. There is no doubt the holocaust happened. Please don't give this type of article any of your thought or time as it does not deserve it.

The evidence supporting the reality of the holocaust, both documented and anecdotal, is over whelming, and this type of article is a fabrication of lies, intended to support an extremist political view point.

You've got to be blind to be a holocaust denier.. there's massive amounts of evidence including confessions of Nazi officals at the Nuremberg Trial. Hermann Göring, a high official of the Nazi state testified openly and frankly about the persecution of German Jews, Otto Ohlendorf testified directly about his unit, Einsatzgruppe D, killing 90,000 Jews in the southern Ukraine in 1941.

not to mention the fact that members of my family told me actual stories of how they used to sit in the ghetto in Poland begging for food. (and the fact that my grandma who is no longer with us had a number branded on her arm)

after hearing and seeing all this can you really have any doubt?

If the evidence is overwhelming then please share what you consider to be damning proof. You don't have to type an essay, even a link will do. I want to hear from both sides of this argument, but I also want to hear evidence. I am not saying this article is accurate, it just made me curious, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that.

@VectorKing: I don't doubt that the Holocaust happened or that Jews were killed in horrific ways. I just wondered how much is truth and how much is embellishment. I, too, have a family member with a brand on her arm so I know and understand the pain you feel when you hear those stories. But I also know that with time, stories get exaggerated. The truth is often somewhere in the middle, and that is what I am trying to find/explore. Their is nothing wrong with learning or discussing, so please don't take offense.

For those who might misunderstand, the author is employing sarcasm. She is not a Nazi sympathizer.

Read it in its entirety, at least the italicized bits. Its really rather brilliant.

My impression of the site is indeed that it's illustrative of the many pseudo-'scientific' sites on the net, mixing some facts with a lot of fiction to support their claim.

The best way to deal with any such claims is to look at what the most respected scientific journals have to say about it. In the field of history, one of (the?) most respected journals is that of the American Historical Association. They dig deep.

Quoting them: "The American Historical Association Council strongly deplores the publicly reported attempts to deny the fact of the Holocaust. No serious historian questions that the Holocaust took place." (AHA Statement on Holocaust Denial - Perspectives (December 1991) - American Historical Association)

Please always turn to a neutral highly regarded scientific source before considering such statements. I'm not a jew but it pains me to see hate sites like this whtever their angle.

You've got to see most the evidence with your own eyes to really understand it. The biggest collection of holocaust artifacts and evidence is at yad vashem in Israel - I think they might have a website you could look it up. the story's are no exaggeration believe me - it would have to be an absolutely massive conspiracy for thousands of people from many different country's who were under German occupation to all have the same story's and the number 6 million is deathly accurate and not just a guess thrown out there.

what I'm saying is that the truth might be very very slightly off - but is in no way in the middle.
