It seems like not terribly long ago, you'd have to post a speedtest and at least one ratioproof for an invite to IPT. In the past week or so, however, it looks like people have no choice but to give them away. It's not a big deal to lose IPT as there are many other good general trackers out there (and IPT itself has loads of content).

As much as I'd like invites to some trackers I don't currently have accounts on, I understand the need for exclusivity - in the case of most trackers, the more exclusive it is generally means the better quality you get (of both content and speed).

The world didn't need another Demonoid, but it appears that it's got one...

I'm sorry but you are horribly wrong my friend, IPT can not be compared to demonoid in any sense as it has no connection to public trackers as demonoid does, people give away invites easily because it's extremely easy to acquire them and the content is far beyond that which you would find in demonoid. It will never be demonoid as even elite users per se still use IPT, it is the one place almost no user wants to lose. There are so many things that make it stand out much farther than demonoid which is why I find it somewhat insulting to even mention them in the same sentence.

    Hi opm,

You sound very sad indeed. You can blame me too for that happening. I'm giving IPT away without asking any proof at the moment of writing and I admittetly haven't treated the same way when I've requested for my invitation.
At the beginning I thought to be iron solid about my giweaways - which I've started just last week by the way - because I was afraid of inviting traders and I didn't want to be banned for actions I couldn't really fully control (let's not forget one can became a trader or a cheater sometime after you've sent the invite).
Albeit after my first giveaway I realize that the information T-I is storing about you are huge and variegate. You can start from the introduction and, besides profile description, going through everything a user has ever written. That's already a very sensible way of proofing somebody. Of course you have to do it - meaning that you do have to spend the time to see if there is any flaw or discrepancies. After the history check you can always ask for speedtests or ratio proofs at this stage. By no means you are bound to send the invite you promised if something you read didn't strike you on a good note. And when somebody refutes to send proofing or even avoids your questioning, you should report it right away to the T-I staff.
Moreover I think you're willing to forget that new members go through a background check at the beginning of the chain and not everybody gets accepted. Whereas in Demonoid you can get an invitation anywhere off the internet, when they don't have open signups.
Additionally newbies know the system and if they really care about the invite they voluntary present proofs despite being unasked for.
I have to agree to Sayocean as comparing IPT to Demonoid seems more an act of indignation than a thoughtful thinking. On so many different levels.
As example just consider for a moment the fact that anybody on the internet can browse DMN content, usernames, profiles, snatches and stats without even being registered. That's blatant p2p crap, if you ask me. Being embellished by a somewhat broken close signup and an easy to maintain ratio system that give a fair handshake to H&Rs, can possibly be compared to a full flagged private tracker that goes only by invitations and it's well monitored by experienced staff?

Now having said all this I think you unveil a real issue here. Regardless what I'm been saying so far the lack of a persistent, well-rounded and precise way of proofing, is a problem I think we need to face as soon as possible. I think everybody may be interested in the discussion about proofing unfolding at this link

Why not having a proofing Rul3800k stating all the modalities of proof checking indexed by each tracker particular status in the scene that everybody ought to abide to or else being banned?

    Do you agree?

IPT is such an underrated tracker, in my opinion mainly because it's relatively easy to obtain an invite...
But comparing it to other so-called Top Trackers, IPT is on pair with them, whatever the criteria you choose (pre-times, content, speeds, ...).
The only cons i see there is that it looks a little bit messy (due to the huge content) and also some 'weak' (few) uploaders, which seem to not know what they are doing... But i guess these 'problems' are common to some other trackers too!

Demonoid isn't in any way comparable to IPT, the only similarity would probably be the huge content, even though IPT clearly beats Demonoid on this also :)

I personally find IPT very enjoyable I just it a hole hell of a lot more often then torrentleach or revtt but it is still awsome Ipts show this track some respect. It is so horriblely over rated that it isn even funny.

A treacker that makes it easy to seed and get a 1to1 ratio witout seedboxs or crosses seeding and it has pretty much all the same stuff that the other two tracker do.

IPT is so under rated and disrespected for what it is.

I don't use scene trackers that much but when I do you can bet it is IPT. After I am user to look after HDbits.org and CHdbits and HDroad. I have not downloaded on a public tracker in a while

Also I love UKnova and UKtvchoas but yah how dare you mock IPT I love some of there internal encodes and megapacks you should be ashamed of yourself. A reall site for beginners at pt pirating and that is the true

Obtaining invites may be easy, but remember that IPT is pretty much ideal to be one's first private tracker. And if it is going to be your first, you don't have a ratio that you could give as a proof.
I think there's no reason to introduce people to the torrenting world by directing them to Demonoid first. I don't know how it is with you guys, but my stats at DMN haven't updated even once for 3 months now, even though I have uploaded at least a 100GB during that time. So how are people supposed to make a ratio on a site whose torrents are tracked externally and a lot of the transferring happens through DHT? I do get your point though, the place is really good, and it would be a shame if it became like torrentday, which apparently is a real noobs' tracker. I don't know how many spam posters and cheaters they have. A large user base has both its positive and negative sides.

Well, your luck with demonoid isn't as bad (good?) as mine. I joined it in mid '05. My ratio has not changed since mid '05 even after transferring terabytes.
