Thread: How to build a good ratio

Ok so I know alot of the older members are gonna say this is mostly in the F.A.Q.s at the trackers but, I believe that more than 75% of the people who joins these trackers just click those 3 boxes and hit submit, they can't wait to start downloading. So I have decided in the spirit of giving back and because I see at least 10 posts a day in my trackers with the title "Ratio Help Please!!" or something to that effect.


I have found that a system is required to both excel in some of the harder to seed trackers and to advance in User Classes and I am gonna attempt to share my system for the members here that are new to private trackers.

So first thing is you REALLY should read the Rules and Faq at EVERY new tracker you join!!

The biggest mistake I see people make is to start downloading tons straight away and unless you have a really fast connection or are selecting the right torrents this will get you in an uncermountable hole and get you disabled or banned so I have a few pointers that I FOLLOW exactly when I join every new tracker I get-

I first read the FAQ but, I'm always interested in the how does this promotion thing thread.

I download a small torrent first with 1 seed and alot of leeches. I look for a new release that I know people will download for a few days to come.

I go to all of my sites that I have a large buffer on and I download 1 of the most popular torrents at my brand new tracker there. I then download just the txt torrent file from my new tracker. I open it in utorrent and I make sure it's location is the same as the torrent I downloaded from my buffered account and I unchecked the box that says start torrent

Now I click force recheck . As long as they are the exact same file and it comes back 100% you now click start and you will seed a popular torrent and receive a ton of upload without any download credited to your account.

This is and especially useful technique at ALL of your general tracker (IPT, TL, SCC, Bitsoup, revtt....)
For video games you do the same thing with Blackcats, Bitgamer and an excellent scource for large console games is Filelist because most are freeleech. I don't know why but alot are freeleech and are released at the same time as the really popular game trackers.

This technique is referred to as cross seeding or outside seeding.

Now it's the so called harder to seed trackers (bitme, waffles, bitme-tv)
That people have a ton of trouble with and if you are not careful you will never recover from these. DO NOT grab any large files right away. These trackers are 100% ratio run No seed points or anything like that and cross seeding is difficult . If you have a BTN account than cross seeding at bitme-tv is possible but, you need to be fast fast fast . It seems these 2 trackers take turns at who will get torrents first. Honestly if you have BTN you have no need for bitme-tv. The trick at Waffles is to gain access to the top 10 spend your points on it and try to stick to it . The DPs comic, and the "scene" new releases are also what you want. And if you are lucky enough to catch a freeleech at Waffles TAKE ADVANTAGE!!



Bitme.org is a toughy to cross seed and I downloaded some stuff I didn't exactly want because I needed to. If you can upload new content this is the BEST site that it comes into play.

Obviously the ratio free trackers (GFT, BTN,FTN, PTN) are easy just make sure you do not hit and run at these trackers because you have an account at the highly coveted trackers and you would HATE to loose it.

And then of course are the basics.
Know your speed- Do not try to stretch it in the beginning
Build a buffer before taking on the large torrents
Read the ratio requirements at your respective trackers.
NEVER go by your clients' stats confirm them in your profile
Check in frequently it sucks to be pruned for inactivity
Be careful who you invite and know the invite rules at your trackers

Another thing people need to remember is certain trackers SCC, revtt and a few others have some members with blazing 8 mb/s 10 mb/s so even if you grab right away be careful. I dl at 5 mb/s and up at 4 and at SCC people fly by me. Take advantage of the freeleech packs. Sometimes you have to download a torrent or 2 you do not want to keep yourself outta trouble.And NEVER get a tracker that does not have content you want just to get a coveted invite. This will eventually get you disabled the "elite" trackers do require some work and time to establish a good ratio. I hope this helps some and if you need any more help I am always available.

Basically grabbing a hot torrent from a tracker you are well established at and then seeding it at your new tracker to build a buffer before you download. TL calls it Outside Seeding . It's refferred to both ways
