Thread: How to become PU in Waffles.fm

Well,I have seen many people asking at many places that "How to become a power user at waffles.fm?" Lets face it. "Waffles" is VERY HARD to seed,even with a seedbox.I have seen many pro users giving numerous advices to the newly joined members,but havent found a compact thread regarding this issue.So I thought of making this thread,where I am going to put some of my thoughts and tips from others to help out the newbees.

First of all,let me start by providing you the information about the necessary requirements to become PU:

1. Must have been be a member for at least 4 weeks,
2. Have uploaded at least 25GB
3. Downloaded at least 5GB
4. Have a ratio at or above 1.05.

The promotion is automatic (within 24 hours) when these conditions are met. Note that you will be automatically demoted from this status if your ratio drops below 0.95 at any time.


So,the main problem,in the above requirement is that 25 GB upload.

The first thing that the newbees usually do is to search for the torrent with maximum leechers.But the fact is that,waffles tracker takes some time to update itself.So what you see is not the actual number of leechers.So,they fall in this and sometimes download a large torrent without uploading anything or a very minimal amount.

Same thing goes for the newly uploaded torrents.They shows 0 seeders 0 leechers..but in actual they are not.

This is the source of all the problem.

ESSENTIAL TIPS FOR GETTING THE UPLOAD:

1.If you dont have a good home connection,get a seedbox.A really good speed is required to make the most at waffles.

2.Download the NEWLY ADDED TORRENTS.the newly added torrents may show 0 seeders or 0 leechers...but they are not ( reason explained above ).

3.Download the newly added SCENE releases.The scene releases are,what we call the HOT torrents of waffles.They get a decent amount of leechers than normal torrents.

4.Hang in the announce channel of waffles.fm irc.this channel gives you instant info about the newly added torrents.As soon as the newly added scene releases comes out,GRAB it. ( SADLY THE ANNOUNCE BOT NO LONGER EXIST)

5.Earn points to get freeleech or half leech: Points can be earned at waffles,which can be traded for freeleeches and halfleech.Points are usually given for snatched torrents,filling requests.So the more number of torrents you snatch,the more points you get.

Free Leech For Yourself, 24 Hours --> 1200 Points

Half Leech For Yourself, 24 Hours --->300 Points

Half Leech For Yourself, 48 Hours --->500 Points


If you can earn yourself a Freeleech...well then again stick to the plan.Download the newly added torrents only.

6.Waffles.fm have some official freeleech torrents.They can be found here.

7.Try uploading something new which is not in the database.Putting an album up in FLAC will do you wonders for your ratio, But don't just put it up in FLAC. Convert it and upload it in V0. If you're really feeling special, put it up in 320 and V2 as well. The larger audience of downloaders you reach, the more upload you capitalize on.

My opinion is just upload, i mean theres no excuse for saying "i dont have cds", people on here have about 30 trackers, pretty sure one is scene, all you need to do is grab the album, make sure its at least a v2 or idk what the rules are for waffles, and upload it. Simple as that. ( ~Charmander)


The large files with a high number of leechers also can be tricky because those leechers may only have part of the files and (say 10 out of 50 rars) and that's it. So in effect they're seeding, but they'll show up as leechers because they don't have the whole torrent (~Diegocross)

If waffles is going to do the same thing they did last year, this time of the year, then Oktoberfest Freeleech should be coming soon (~bagel)

House, Dance, Trance, and Techno generally seed well. (~xvkrusnikvx)

I always grab torrents that are are less than 100 mb and brand new - look for torrents with 0 leechers. Make sure they are BRAND NEW and put them on your box to perma-seed.(~JustJenna)

Get yourself access to the top 10 index asap, by exchanging some of your points in the Waffles shop, it'll show you which torrents are 'hot' .(~Trevor)

Here is my advice, add DCP comic pack in your seedbox rss feed , you will grab some nice uploade . : )

If waffles is going to do the same thing they did last year, this time of the year, then Oktoberfest Freeleech should be coming soon. I hope there is a repeat! That is what gave me a 50gig buffer!

I always found it beneficial to jump on a lot of the popular apps, and all of the official freeleech releases in every version (FLAC, V0, V2). The comics on waffles also get leeched pretty well.

I think Charmander's right. Adding new content is extremely easy with the amount of scene releases churned out each day. And, it should be the first thing most users do to build a ratio.

Bringing new content to a tracker is probably the most important contribution any user can make.

I suggest downloading the new, freshly uploaded 2010 albums. Those do get plenty of activity.

Nice tutorial Subkar! Here's a small addition to the many valuable tips for getting good upload numbers:
- look out for the 0-day Waffles comic packs, coming out every 3-4 days. Make sure you grab them as soon as they're released, it's the easiest way to get to an upload of 25 in no time!! They're large packs that seed well. I don't even read them, I just seed them for the upload =]
- get yourself access to the top 10 index asap, by exchanging some of your points in the Waffles shop, it'll show you which torrents are 'hot'

i suggest to upload new scenes(u can grab them from gft). theres always someones that downloading them immediately. so u can built a good ratio there but long term. not that fast.
