Default SceneLinks v3.0 - News and Updates #2‎

    So, this is it guys!

We\'ve made the final modifications on Promicin Shots, Donate, iRC and Autoupload scripts.
Our job is finally completed and your job begins: you must leech, seed, comment, post and
enjoy every torrent that our tracker, SceneLinks, can offer you.
So that we\'re clear on something: we are a RATIOLESS tracker, we offer the latest torrents
that the \"Scene\" can provide and we ask in return just to follow the rules of SceneLinks.

We\'re going to clean the user table soon - we must get rid of inactive or bad users - , so, if
you still want to be part of the SceneLinks community, login and make your presence felt.

We wish you a nice Sunday and a beautiful Spring!

P.S. We\'re closing the gates soon and if your friends want to join us tell them that the Invite system in ON, or they can ask for invites on our irc channel (details available on the login page).

Hope I'm allowed to post this because it's my strong opinion. Why do people continue to support these trackers, did we really need all the new general trackers that are popping up lately. Do any of them offer anything unique? All this is doing is flooding the market, oversaturating it.

They are taking away members from other trackers that deserve them for being first and being best, they are stealing bandwidth that these members provide, I mean really unless you own a seedbox how many torrents from how many trackers can you be leeching/seeding at the same time. I wish the trackers that offer something unique would get more activity but how can they when alot of their members are on so many trackers. It's breaks up your focus having to keep up so many accounts.

When a new tracker opens up when its not needed which especially true in the case of music and 0day trackers it's just encouraging collectors, each new tracker is one more tracker they can add to their bookmarks.

I wish we as a community could say "Stop! We don't need another tracker with scene in their url and name."

I kind of agree with gamesover that there is an over abundances of 0day trackers but it's the new trackers that keep the old ones on their toes and releasing new features & layouts for their users.

I usually sign up for trackers that seem appealing and check them out, if they have good pre times and a nice layout then I might just stay and become power user or the likes. Case and point would be The Black Hand, I never saw a tracker like that. The theme and concept are amazing in my opinion, they appeal to me so I stayed and one of my old trackers will just have to go. Nowadays with all the new trackers I think that 0day trackers need to offer more than just decent pre times, there is simply to much competition out there.

    On to this tracker...
I just signed up and I like the layout, it's nice and crisp. Like the op said, it's ratioless so that's a plus and they have an IRC bonus system. These things appeal to me so I'll stay for a little bit to see what else this tracker has to offer and I will make my decision down the road... is this tacker better than the ones I already have? If so then which one do I get rid of.

This is my take on new trackers and I thought that most people did the same... How will you know what's out there if you don't take a look?

i just can't understand why anyone would give up any of their time and/or money to support a new general tracker. they all just disappear within weeks. personally i wouldn't give any of my time or money to a site which is not established.

at least the flow of new trackers is not as bad as it was a year or so ago, when every 15 year old reading about oink's profits suddenly thought that starting a tracker would be a good get rich quick scheme.

I'm sorry... I don't mean to single you out because I know you are not the only one who thinks like this but that attitude is exactly why new trackers don't survive.
Some new trackers are very generic and not worth the time or effort but others like this one are worth it. I've been surfing the site for the last couple of minutes and I must say that I really like it. The only thing left to help me make my decision will be the pre times and the content. I recommend taking a look before they close their doors.

P.S. - I suggest you change your signature before a mod sees it because T-I made an announcement this week about people asking for rep or thanks in their signatures, they gave us until Monday to change it or they would give out infractions.

I have to disagree with this a bit.

I believe that all trackers, whether new or established have something unique to offer. This uniqueness could be a strong community, fast pre-times, nice staff, unique content, great web experience etc etc.

With Governments declaring war on torrents, it is always good to have as many trackers as possible, so if one goes down, you have the option of joining another one.

Do people really want an Internet with only a handful of trackers? I think that would be dreadful. If you only have a handful of trackers, this means more power in the hands of a few and a situation like this would lead to even more shady and abusive activity among private trackers.

Not to mention the fact that most of the big and/or very secretive trackers probably all started off as very very small and when they first started you probably had people saying they would not survive more then a couple of weeks.

    Just my 2 cents.

But most good general 0day trackers like TL, IPt, PTM, TorrentVault, SCC, and others already have been offering those same qualities for years. So how is unique if these new trackers say they offer the same things we can just as easily get from any of the above trackers and many others.

I thought unique meant 'new', trackers thats are unique are ones like music-vids because you won't find many of their music videos anywhere else or BTN because they totally broke the mold of what you would expect from a TV tracker. What does SceneLinks have that is unique to it that you can't find at TL or SCC?

It's not even close to being a handful. Yes its true trackers shutdown, it just doesn't happen nearly as often as you would think by the way people make a big deal about it. How long has it been since uk-t, sct, swedvdr, ftwr shut down? A pretty long time, I can't remember too many other major trackers shutting down besides them recently.

And when you say handful of trackers that couldn't be a worse word to use, there are literally hundreds or over a thousand trackers in existence(I don't feel like spending an hour on google so i cant say an exact number atm). Isn't that way more than enough, its overkill.

I think we just have to agree to disagree here.

I don't mind new trackers popping up frequently, whether they have something new to offer or not.

The torrent world is a dog eat dog world and if those trackers don't offer something that the masses like, then they will fail.
