Default PTP about to prune users

This is part of a message from PTP. Log into your accounts if you haven't been doing so!

    ...
Speaking of the user cap, we are aware that we are getting close to 25,000 users on site. We are at 24,891 as of the writing of this post. However, since the transition to RC2, we have no longer been disabling for inactivity (not logging in to the site). 2,653 users & members (who are not donors) have not logged in within the past 2 months. In 5 days, we will once again begin disabling users and members for inactivity, which is defined as not logging in at least once every two months. Power Users+ and Donors are immune. If you have any friends who qualify in this category, please contact them and tell them to log in to the site in order to keep their account from being disabled in 5 days.

Why keep an account to a site you don't use?

    Oh wait you're a collector.

I'll agree that just logging in to keep the account doesn't make good use of it and some sites have user limits, so it hinders others from getting in. But sometimes you just get busy in life. Hey, you've bought a new house, sold your existing house but the new is delayed one you have to live somewhere temporarily, or you go on a trip for a month, stuff happens. Or you cancel your seedbox for a month or two.

Even PTP says it themselves: Get the word out to your friends.

I think its OK to not use a tracker for a while if you get busy in life. But there is a balance between that and just holding it indefinitely which might prevent another user from joining. Trackers could prune accounts that don't DL/UL as well if they really wanted to.

Anyway, in summary, it is nice to let people know. Some have legitimate situations, for those people I'm sure they would appreciate the heads up.

I agree. However, some like my one friend, he used to be in all the hot trackers many years ago including FTN, hdbits, TT etc. but stopped torrenting for over a year now. He still logs in the main ones "just in case". I doubt he will ever use them again since he has Scene axx now.

I hear what you're saying and I think most can relate, but there is a difference between telling some friends and posting it for the whole torrent world to see on a public forum. Just seems kind of counter productive.

Good news for people like me that is not a member, it makes space for us. I guess the people that get pruned won't really care since they don't use the tracker any way, if they did, they wouldn't get pruned.
