Ok so they might get us if we're not protected. What exactly constitutes adequate protection?

    1 - Peer Guardian 2
    2 -?
    3 -?

Come on spell it out. What do we have to do to be safe?

I got a letter while back that basically told me to delete a certain movie, and any other media with the copyright owned by nbc universal, and not to download anything else unless i use "legal" methods in order to avoid any legal action. I wasn't contacted directly, but just had the letter forwarded to me by my isp, hopefully that means my personal info wasn't given to them, but who knows.

Since then i've gone in search of anything i can do to keep myself safe.

    PeerBlock
Serves the same function as peer guardian, supposed to be based on the same code, but with a lot of peer guardians bugs fixed.

    Additional Vuze Settings
If your using vuze for your bt program, this shows you where to turn encryption on, and a couple other useful settings.

This thread was a great read that should help me (and hopefully everyone else here) be just that much more secure.

a good isp (like mine) specifically allows for torrenting pretty much 24/7, you can actually choose a package that is virtually specifically tailored for that, with no restrictions at all
Also yeah peer guardian or similar is a must

There are many sources for the file, but I prefer the highly paranoid one - 'emule pawcio ipfilter' from sourceforge. Just google 'emule pawcio ipfilter' to find it. His file is huge, and blocks all the MPAA/RIAA/etc networks, plus a whole host of other networks known to be a source of problems and or trouble. Compare the 18 meg ipfiter.dat from him to the other ~3 meg files that block far fewer networks and you'll understand why I use it. I know it works, and I have even helped friends who were getting letters on public sites install it and they never received another notice again.

Nothing is perfect as any security person knows, but I won't torrent without that file plugged in to uTorrent.

I hope this doesn't set a trend of going after private sites. Wow.

That's the same thing I use.Ity's very safe, it has a HUGE list of IPs.If this doesn't keep me safe then it's time for VPN.

^ That is still not safe because they can use normal computer to trace Ips.

this is so bad , we think that they are some rights about their copyrights, but we have also the right to be free in the network
