Demonoid fans take heart: the tracker that started the torrenting journey for many is rising from the ashes.
On November 5th the tracker came back online, although the official website remains down. And today Demonoid admins announced that the site would definitely be making a return, debunking rumours that the much loved tracker was down for good.
The official announcement at Demonoid.com reads "There are some rumors about the site shutting down for good and we starting a new tracker next year. the rumors are of course, lies. There are no plans of shutting down or creating another site. And there is NO official twitter/facebook/any other web community page for Demonoid. There are a few around that were created by fans and have no link to the site or staff. The parts of the site code that got deleted are being rewritten and should be ready soon. We are also working to try and minimise the data loss as much as possible. Thanks for your patience."
What the data loss means for newer users of the tracker remains unclear. Some user accounts may be lost. More worrying though, is the loss of several thousand torrents. No doubt, Demonoid admins are hoping that long time users will help to rebuild the massive library Demonoid is known for.
Whatever happens, it's clear that the green demon will make a return. It's only a matter of time.
