Default Pirate Party Founder Nominated for TIME 100

Rick Falkvinge, founder of the first Pirate Party in Sweden, has been selected as one of the 200 finalists for TIME’s prestigious top 100 list of the worlds most influential people.

Rick Falkvinge is known as the founder of the first Pirate Party in Sweden back in 2006.

The success of this party didn’t go unnoticed and soon after Pirate parties were founded in dozens of other countries.

Last year Falkvinge stepped down as party leader to focus more on promoting the Pirate position internationally. In the real world, but also on his own blog and through his bi-weekly column on TorrentFreak.

Needless to say, he is honored by TIME’s pick.

“The most important thing here is that I’m not primarily on the list as an individual, but as a carrier of new and important ideas – as a symbol for a large movement demanding civil liberties for the next generation,” Falkvinge comments on his blog.

If you want to help Rick to make it into the final list you can let the people of TIME know here.

haha, to be fair, that was the result of an enormous hacking project done by them. 4chan isn't actually influential in any real way

Saying TIME isn't taken seriously is about as off key as you can get, it's one of the most read magazines in the world.

At any rate I voted for him.

Perhaps learn to read? I never said the magazine wasn't taken seriously. I was referring to the poll.
