    Default Feds shut down Megaupload

    McLEAN, Va. – Federal prosecutors in Virginia have shut down one of the world's largest file-sharing sites, Megaupload.com, and charged its founder and others with violating piracy laws.

    The indictment accuses the company of costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated films and other content. The indictment was unsealed Thursday, one day after websites shut down in protest of two congressional proposals intended to thwart the online piracy of copyrighted movies and TV programs.
    Megaupload.com has claimed it is diligent in responding to complaints about pirated material.
    The indictment says at one point, Megaupload was the 13th most popular website in the world.

    Never used it and never will use those kind of sites, ever!

    Shame that you lost out on your cash. Is there any way at all you can get a refund?

    I just feel safer with private torrent sites and I guess I'm too much of a torrenter to ever change.

    Write an email to those feds, maybe you'll get a refund :) But in all seriousness, that's huge news which can affect other big hosting sites like FileServe, FileSonic. Btw site it's closed but I wouldn't bu surprised if they'll try to take some legal actions against MegaUpload's users in order to you know, make an example out of MU.

    I used it for W-BB. Something about DDL, like the longevity of files, and always maxing out my connection. I still prefer trackers though.
