An account thief is using bitleech signup links to mass steal user credentials on various sites. Do not click these links!

For the past few weeks, it has come to our attention that someone hosting a website by the name of Funn (and now Bitleech) has been posting his website's URL at various BitTorrent related forums. He has been advertising this site as "opens for all" and inviting people to join. We have been informed that the purpose of this site is to collect users' details in order to use them to hijack their accounts on various trackers.



As always, our members' security is our prime concern, hence we would like to alert you regarding this site, and urge you not to click any links related to "Funn" or "Bitleech", and certainly not to sign up on these sites.

We remind you to USE A UNIQUE PASSWORD ON EACH SITE, to prevent the possibility of your account being easily hijacked. If you signed up for Funn or Bitleech, we encourage you to review your accounts and change your passwords on any other site that you've used the same details on to a difficult to guess and unique password. That includes your email, Facebook and other BT related accounts.

If you have any further questions or concerns regarding your account's safety, please change your account password immediately and PM a staff member on the site or IRC.

Actually, unique username is much more important than unique password.
This is one of the oldest and most popular methods of account theft and should be familiar to everyone.

There is also the other site of coin with what you said because if you have unique username for evert site you're member of there is a big chance you'll be suspected of being a trader, so imho unique pass is much more important.

I use different names on every site I am a member of, I don't see how that could make people think you are a trader. I figure it is more secure to not build up an entire identity in this type of internet usage, but maybe that's just me.

If you like to interact with people at different trackers and be recognized as one single person, then an unique usarname is necessary, for the ones interested on leeching or that don't wan't to be recognized it is fine to have different names.
A unique username would imply that you are not a trader for the simple fact that the same person cannot be on two places at the same time (would be quite obvious if the same guy is logging in from two countries), you are basicaly making the job to catch you trading easier, and there is no logic for a trader to do that.

Personally, I would never give someone an invite to any tracker that I "care" about (notice I didn't say high level ) if they had a different username on every site, unless I really knew that person.

As long as you are using unique, very strong passwords and your email is anonymous and its password is strong, there is no danger in having the same username on every site.

Garbage.. we had some really really HIGH lvl users in TI that were in top 20 of the site with the highest rep and igivers and they turned out traders and scammers and etc etc. I know staff of a certain tracker that wanted to sell an F*C invo and got cought...

It`s all about the person really as I saw traders turned in honest guys and they like it this way !!

It isn't garbage as everyone uses their own philosophy and criteria to evaluate the worthiness of an individual.

Unique usernames doesn't imply that they are not among the undesirables but in my book, it helps put a piece of the puzzle together.
