Hi everyone.

In the light of recent events, I have a couple of things to say.



To clear things up.

Yes, as stated in the thread, there were some newer encoders who took the term transparant encoding very lightly. Me unwilling to not post a list of encodes that didn't comply with our group policy was an act of me trying to set things traight with them first. Unfortunataly, most of them have now left the group. To sum things up, TheFlash, follz and messirafa's encodes were the ones in doubt. Did they use filtering? Well, not in terms of AVIsynth filters but they misused some of x264's capabilities to enhance video. I asked them politely to use some of these values within certain bounds as the use of high psy)rd/pasy-trelis is a technique for use with very low bitrates and it does sharpen the picture. They said no. Bigimac uses this algorythm too but well within bounds and his expeerience in encoding never raised any doubt whatsoever. He was very willing to comply with our group ethos. TheFlash, follz and messirafa weren't. I have no problem with everyone having their own encoding techniques as long as it reaches our main goal and that is transparant encoding at a perfect balance between quality and size. Yes, I do believe that every pixel should have the bits it deserves. TheFlash was the first to leave the group. he didn't believe in sharing encodes with fellow team members. Was egar to rush them out. The result of this were his high bitrate encodes. follz and messirafa followed shortly after the psy-rd and tweaking dispute. To quote on messirafa "higher bitrate prevents artifacts". Another thing that disapointed me is their lack of team spirit. It happaned numerous times that they openly preferred or bumped their encodes over that of fellow team mambers. That is something I do NOT tolerate in a team. As they now formed a new team, I wish them all the best though despite the fact they made the big mistake of thinking of themselves as being elite. There is no "I" in team. You work towards the vision of a team. Sure you can help to brighten the horizon but it is not one person's choise to change it or turn the whole thing around.

With this said. I would like to apologise to our loyal fans. It was never my intention to cause doubt about our group ethos and stir the waters of faith in our group. As we are now pretty much to our long time members and encoders it is now safe to presume that we're now back to encode towards our original group ethos.
