Thread: TranceTraffic compromised

We strongly recommend that if you have had or currently have a TranceTraffic account that you change your PassThePopcorn password immediately, regardless of how secure your password may have been. Their site was compromised in August and it is now believed that a group of people have been using this data to hijack accounts. Thank you.

Seen this on PTP and wanted too pass along the word. This goes for any of your other trackers in which you use the same username. I personally advise using a unique password for each individual account. It's a bit of a PITA but you can keep a record in notepad or something of the sort.

Thats the sole reason why I prefer to use different usernames and passwords for all my trackers. I don't think I have any thing to worry about.

Anyways, changed my password on both TT and PTP.

A friend of mine had is account hijacked and he wasnt on TT, so i`m not sure if thats where the problem comes from, or just one of the places it comes from, he already got his account back talking in the irc with staff.
Unfortunaly this is something that we see more often every day, so better safe than sorry, and be sure to use diferent passwords to diferent places.

I have to agree with the posters above, that using different passwords, at the very least, is a must on different trackers. I can highly recommend a password manager like 1Password which has dropbox support and which works really well, to keep track of all these passwords on various sites and trackers.

TT's front page said passwords were not compromised.

Old news , TT already handled it, but PTP would be too late giving this info more than one month after the incident.
