    Default HD-T news

Good news from HD-T. There will be less inactive users.

    Dear members,

Today we introduced a new system of accounting and recording the downloaded/uploaded amount of data. The major change is a requirement to download at least 15 GB per quarter (3 months).

This is in a response to the big number of inactive accounts - as of today there are a lot of members that regularly log in but do nothing at the site - they do not download or seed anything.

Now this will change. Everyone is required to download 15 GB for a period of 90 days. If you download less than 15 GB per 90 days, you will first get a reminder to comply with the new rule within 3 days. If you don't download 15 GB within 90 days, your account will be disabled.

All the other ratio requirements still apply.

I hate this type of condition but it seems much fair than other trackers like ttg which requires 15 Gb for each month. I think everyone even users with home connection should be able to get it there:)

This equates to about a 4 720p movies, or 2 1080p movies per quarter. If you are using the account less than that, then I think it is fair enough.

If you are downloading less than this per quarter, are you really going to miss the tracker if you are disabled.

When trackers make this type of requirement though I do think they should either offer a park feature, or state that they will re-enable accounts, disabled as a result of this policy, through an IRC request.

I also think it's just. It's not to much, and it seems to be just the way, to make sure, that accounts are actually being used.

I'm fine with it. HD-T is one of my most used trackers. I'm just waiting for more people to whine about the changes. Y-yeah!

Fair enough...no point in being part of such a good tracker if you don't download anything....as someone already said, a quality 1080p rip will be around 10 GB..

I guess its fair as they do HD content, otherwise I would think it might be a tad to high personally... 15GB traffic up and/or down is fair but just 15GB down? What if there is nothing you want to get!

Deleting inactive accounts is a good idea, forcing people to download is not. Forcing people to download will also "force" a lot of people to donate and that is most clever part. It's a good business model.
    QFT.

I also protested on this new rule and I have to note that I've been a member of HDT for some time, uploaded a large number of torrents myself, I've been an HD Daemon for like forever and have a large buffer. I'm only saying this because this rule doesn't actually affect me but it affects other users. Its supposed to be a sharing community. The guy I quoted above got banned for that exact post and because of a private conversation with a mod. He is, or rather was, an HD Daemon (so he could keep a good ratio) and an x-moderator. They deleted my own posts and was threatened with a warning if I kept posting. This is ridiculous.

HDT's moderators and owner have been on a warning issued and ban spree because of people expressing their opinion on that specific matter. I have proof of what I'm talking about. I think I'm done with this tracker.
