Italy announces "3-strike" program for P2P users
Italy's Minister of Culture Sandro Bondi said that Italy will follow the "French model" for P2P piracy. After finishing talks with music industry officials, movie industry officials, and ISPs, Italy will be following in France's footsteps by implementing a "3 strikes" regime. Previous talks in Venice between Italy and MPAA’s President Robert Pisano stating: “Maybe the first couple of times they get a warning e-mail, then perhaps the speed on their account is reduced, and if they keep doing it then maybe their account is closed.” It seems that there will be a fair bit of collaboration between Italy and France regarding this issue, and Sandro Bondi stated that a fight against piracy is a priority for Italy's government.
It seems as though the "graduated response" method is becoming very popular (save New Zealand's zero tolerance approach, we'll see how long that lasts) amongst the world's leaders in internet usage. Perhaps we'll start seeing a proliferation of seedbox use?
