Thread: Warning re: "Funn" phishing scam c/o What.cd

As per the What.cd forum...

For the past few weeks, we have been dealing with a hacker who hosts a website by the name of Funn. He has been posting the website's URL in new and in existing threads, advertising this site as "opens for all". THIS SITE IS NOTHING BUT A PHISHING MECHANISM! Users who sign up at Funn using their What.CD username/password have their accounts hacked and used to continue spamming the link, rinse and repeat. Dealing with hacked accounts is becoming increasingly tedious and complicated, and thus we feel the need to alert users to this website and remind them of general safe internet practices.

Please report any "Funn" threads immediately, and DO NOT use the same password on every site!

Users who do not vary their password across sites expose themselves to widespread account infiltration. If you signed up for Funn, please update your password anywhere else you might use whatever password you used to sign up, including email/Facebook/other tracker accounts. If you are worried your account might have been infiltrated, please change your account details and PM a moderator on the site or IRC.

Recently, someone has been sending links to a site called "Funn." It started with threads and has now advanced to mass PM spam. If you sign up on Funn using the same username and password here, the hacker will simply sign into your What.CD account and start the process all over again.

DO NOT USE the same password on each site!

Remember to use strong, unique passwords, but it is very important to use different ones every time you sign up to a new service.

If you see this happening, please report it immediately.

Pretty sad that in this day and age, people still have to be told to not use the same username and password on every "torrent" site.
