What exactly is a seedbox and do I want one?
So, I got a scare recently from doing about 1TB in a month and I keep seeing these seedboxes being referenced. Do they assist me in some way? What do they do? What's a good price for them and what's considered a good place for them? Thanks for any assistance.

Well basically, a seedbox is a dedicated server for torrenting. It has much faster speeds than your home connection, and makes torrenting safer by hiding your home IP. With it, you can seed more files easily and faster.
It's up to you to get one, but personally, I don't think I'm ever going to pay for a seedbox, since it seems kind of odd to pay for something to help me download torrents that I wanted free in the first place.

Anyways a seedbox is a dedicated server for torrenting and with it you don't worry about leaving your PC on, getting DMCA notices, etc. You can download directly from your seedbox to your home PC using FTP or HTTP. Its good and its cheap like $15-25 for a semi dedicated.
If you have a fast u/l speed and plenty of HDD space to satisfy your needs, then you don't really need one. Really it just depends on your trackers.
It's good for trackers where seeding is impossible from a home connection, when you can't seed 24/7 or to keep yourself anonymous through proxies and secured connections. It can also act as online backup as well if you have the space. The uses are really limitless so they are great.
Another way I look at it is it allows you to maintain a ratio you couldn't at trackers otherwise allowing you to avoid pay to leech VIP subscriptions and becoming power user status easily.

Thanks everyone. I think I understand the point of it and I'll be looking into to getting one. I guess I'm just an HD slut. I just love gettting more and more HD content. I'm up to 5TB in my basement so far. . lol
I also got a scare from my provider for doing over 1350 GB in Dec so I know what you mean but I like the idea of a seed box though must agree sort of defeats the purpose
