Default Bad to use same username on all trackers?

    Hello everyone,

I was just curious what you guys thought about the act of using the same user name for all of your trackers. I know it can't be the same as the torrent-invites account (mine isn't) but I was just curious about the actual trackers them selves. Could it pose a security risk?

    Thank you!

No. I think plenty of people use the same username on their trackers. Every tracker knows its members are part of other trackers. Some even have recruitment threads in their internal tracker forums..

A little diversity isn't a bad thing either.

using the same username AND password on all trackers would be a security problem, i've heard of fake login pages being created, on similar domains (something like demonoid.net being used for a fake login page, to steal passwords, when the real address is demonoid.com)

the same username with different passwords is fine, most people do that, particularly if they want their username to be recognised by people

Yep I agree, same username is fine but make sure to use a different password on each tracker.

Better to be safe especially nowadays.

I would say definitely try to use the same username on all trackers. You have to consider that some people look at anyone who uses multiple usernames at their trackers as suspicious. I know whenever I see someone like that I can't help but wonder if they are an account trader.

If you use one username, your active at your trackers under that username (like in irc and forums), and you have a clean history of not breaking rules and getting banned from trackers it will do wonders for your reputation. If people know you by name and they know your a good guy they won't be worried about inviting you anywhere. If you already have all the trackers you need and you don't care about invites its not such a big deal. Still it can always have an effect on how other members deal with you.

Also if you ever want to be promoted at a tracker, like to uploader fls or staff, being respected can play an important part in that. Nobody will promote someone that isn't well known.

And using the same username at your trackers isn't a security risk at all LOL. Your mistaking that with using the same password at all your trackers, which can be a risk esp. if it isn't a secure password.

Gamesover brings up some great points here too.
I use two different passwords on my trackers. The shortest one is 16 characters and includes numbers, letters, lower, caps, and special characters.

I always use different usernames in my tracker, for security reasons :)
