I personally do on my PC but I almost 100% of the time use my seedbox unless it's something I want immediately.
marcus79, purpose of an IP filter is to block unwanted IP addresses.
Their are dozens of lists available. They are called block lists as they are lists of IP's you might want to block. The most common list used blocks the IP's of known anti-p2p companies and organisations. There are about thirty lists commonly available and another few special lists if you know where to look.
The rationale is that by blocking the "bad" IP's you are decreasing the chance of negative actions against you, like lawsuits or threatening lettters, by anti-p2p organisations.
Big questions and arguments over how effective blocklists are. My viewpoint, does not hurt speeds and might help, so I use it.
I use PG2 for two other reasons. First, it works well on my computer but some people use have problems (or Vista which is a problem in itself). Second, the standard blocklist blocks some addresses you might actually want. Some kimsufi's are blocked and some pixelFXsolutions for example and you can manually allow these. it is impossible to manually edit lists in uTorrent. PG2 also blocks addresses within FireFox which comes in very handy if you are sick of seeing pron adverts everywhere.
thanx for the info TwoFingers most informative.
