Default Which VPN is the Best?

I've been googling VPN services and trying to find the best one. Does anyone have any tips as to which ones they chose and why? Or maybe which one they think is the best? I'm not yet familiar with what exactly makes a VPN service good.

vpn's are connections between routers that support protocols such as IPsec and L2TP. cisco and contivity are 2 of the major enterprise hardware players. you can set them up in almost any router. check out www.dd-wrt.com | Unleash Your Router for a great site on all aspects of router management. this sites rocks for turning a crappy linksys (by virtue of the installed firmware) into a powerful router with many capabilities. i hope this is what you were asking for if not sorry for the diatribe!

I'm thinking more along the line of for torrents. I want a more secure connection. Ive done just about everything except pay for a vpn to route my torrent traffic. Obviously I need one that will allow P2P traffic. But also I would like one that actually reports their speed. I have a 50Mb/s synchronous connection. I would like something that can accomodate that. I pay for 50 I should be able to have my cake and eat it too ya know?

I'm also curious as to what exactly makes them secure and why I should even pay for the service.

I use WiTopia VPN in China to circumvent the Great Firewall. Occasionally I have a problem with the speed or connection, but was still very happy with it and have recently renewed their annual subscription. You can also view the IP by the United States and access points as Hulu, etc. In fact, they provide the IP addresses of almost all major cities in the world.

I'm using Avira Phantom VPN. Followed a hint and got 1 year free license.
From what i've compared so far, it seems better than cyberghost.

I rolled my own on a bitcoin paid VPS. I had some issues with the commercial ones as their IPs are usually well known and blocked or restricted.
Get a cheap anonymous (bitcoin) VPS, pop on OpenVPN and off you go.

CyberGhost always have a really good offer and a lot of no-logs servers.
