Can someone who has experience in this explain what the best ways are for protecting your identity/IP when dling torrents?



1) How safe are private torrent tracker sites like IPT or TL?

2) What about things like BTguard, itshidden, StrongVPN? Do they really work? Are they necessary?

3) Do seedboxes also serve the same purpose of protecting your IP?

Depending on your paranoia level and where you are located, a seedbox alone is good enough, but if you really want to step it up, add a VPN to it and you should be pretty anonymous.

And ofcourse, opt for OpenVPN.

This is Pretty Much the Cheapest( if you have a seedbox, it's free) and pretty effective way

If you're scared of getting "caught" when downloading movies and stuff you could always try PeerBlock (formerly PeerGuardian) to block anti-p2p organizations

BTGuard is the man for the job. 100% anonnymity.

To my understanding Peerblock and programs similar to that offer very little actual protection; they change change IPs very easily or instantly while the programs will have to wait for someone to catch the change, all while you are vulnerable to the new IP. I could be wrong.

This might be a good Sticky candidate if more information is found. Ive been seeing a lot of this "download via ssl" and the like and would like to know a little more about total anonymity.

I have one question, if you are DLing stuff with a seedbox and some company reports the seedbox provider as an uploader, will the provider in turn sell you out or can they even target seedbox providers? This is the only thing that Im on the fence about for usenet versus seedbox torrenting.
