The public trackers that i usually find more quality/quantity stuff (but be aware there's also lots of garbage) is BTJunkie and TPB. Between the 2, i would say BTJunkie is one step further.
As for Demonoid i don't think it is a public tracker, IMO it's more a semi-private one. In terms of quantity, you'll see a huge amount of stuff there but in terms of speeds you can't really compare it to a TRUE private tracker...

Well, a friend of mine got me an invite to IPT yesterday.
I must say it's very good. I'm downloading a PS3 game and lets say that only with 3 seeders, I'm downloading at 600~700kbs.
The most good thing is you have many freeleech torrents and they have a scene team uploading there.

TPB and IsoHunt. At least their comments section was put to good use and commented on quality, warned others if it's fake, virus infested, real, or that they got a warning letter from their ISP, lol, or whatnot.

As said, it depends of what you're looking for.
I find Nyaatorrent really nice for Japanese related stuff (Anime/Music/Drama...).
Another one would be Torrent 411 but that's a French tracker (so forget about downloading video files).

BTJjukie is the best, in the sence that it is an indexer, not a tracker. So very little chance of getting attraction of any legal dispute.

I used to get my stuff from Thepiratebay.A lot of people comment there on the torrent quality.So it is easy to find out a good torrent and avoid a fake one.
But as everyone said,there is no need to use a public tracker when you are in TI.You can easily get into a decent private tracker which is a lot safer.

If I had to use a public tracker it would be the pirate bay. Prior to joining the private world I used to get what I needed from there.

Other than them I also like extra torrents, however I am unsure if they are still around.

All of my favorite public trackers are shut down or badly wounded. TorrentSpy was my go to site. Mininova had a great catalog until they allowed only Content Distribution torrents. And ThePirateBay is no longer what it used to be.
