Thread: PTP no longer tolerates bonus giveaways

So I found out a couple hours ago I had been disabled by PTP due to receiving bonus points. I've talked to one of their mods in IRC right now and trying to convince them that T-I works differently then all the other invite forums. Go to their IRC if you were disabled and explain the situation to them.. I've told them we do not tolerate trading of any kind and how its based on whether a person is trustworthy enough. I've tried my best to explain how T-I works but this sort of problem might come up again. Their position on this issue right now is no giving away bonus points anywhere except on their website.

Straight from the mod "z", "okay, well giveaway of bonus points aren't allowed. you cannot go on other sites and distribute them...we have cracked down on the people giving out points to people and gaining rep for that...we have logs of it all"

Just spreading the news so people giving away bonus points won't get in trouble along with those who receive them. I think this is a shame but we have to respect their wishes. Maybe a representative from T-I can talk to them to try and straighten all of this out?

I'm glad they have re-enabled the users affected by this. Definitely good news.

Here is the relevant part from their rules regarding invites and bonus points:

• Trading and selling invites is strictly prohibited, as is offering them in public - this includes on any forum which is not a class-restricted section on an invitation-only torrent site.
• Trading or selling bonus points is strictly prohibitied, as is offering them on any site other than PTP. Doing so will result in either the loss of your bonus points privileges, or your account. This varies depending on the nature of the incident.
• Trading, selling, sharing, or giving away your account is prohibited as well. PM a mod to disable you if you no longer want it.

If your account is disabled then go to their IRC and explain the situation to them. They should enable it for you. The staff I talked to was very reasonable.

As far as I'm aware, places like PTP etc have never allowed bonus points GA's on other forums. So this shouldn't really come as much of a surprise to anyone, just the fact that they are starting to enforce it alot better.

Yes, there is a similar thread over in the VIP section about this. As always, you should be careful and make your own decisions about matters such as this since some trackers view invite and bonus giveaways as tantamount to trading (invites/bonuses for rep in that particular view). We will not be changing our policies as a result of stepped up enforcement by PTP. If you were disabled, the best thing you can do is try to make your case in the PTP disabled channel that we are not a trading forum and ask nicely for the staffer in question to give you another chance. I suspect that level-headed staffers will respond positively to a sincere request for reconsideration. Sorry to all who have been affected by this.

Wow, they actually reenabled all accounts. Not sure, but I was lucky to get ahead of the game and hop on the irc. I thought it was on a per member basis. Well, like I said, just be truthful, cuz if you lied about, not sure if your account was going to get renabled. Got mines done! :)
