Default World’s First Pirate ISP Launches In Sweden

    From TorrentFreak:
The Swedish Pirate Party, who are at the forefront of anti-copyright lobbying in Sweden, are planning to shake up the country’s ISP market. After taking over the supply of bandwidth to The Pirate Bay, Piratpartiet will now partner in the launch of Pirate ISP, a new broadband service that will offer anonymity to customers and provide financial support to the Party.

I'd really like for this ISP to be where I am. Not only would it be safer and anonymous, I also think that it would provide a better overall experience. I'm not sure how this isp will be run, but it would be awesome if it focused more features and services rather than marketing and profit like most US isps

Anonymity is a good thing and this ISP will definitely cause a headache to those who chase piracy.

I don't think this would be possible in the US. Isn't there a law that forces ISPs to keep records?

Do any of you remember why anonymity is a bad thing, even on the internet? Because this means anyone can exploit it, and when I mean anyone I mean anyone, not only for those who want to just pirate digital works.
I know it sounds a bit paranoid, but that's the reality, I mean, what makes you think that someone won't make a mess out of it? Knowing how some people can be, this will definitely happen.

This is an amazing idea although i doubt it will work as planned not trying to sound all down about it but i don't think it will pull through just my thoughts though.

The 'bandwidth wars' in Europe and the UK are getting nasty. This won't go over as planned I suspect. That ISP has to buy bandwidth somewhere is an easy thought.

This year the UK passed a law that can compel ISPs to monitor and report users doing bittorrent traffic. They snuck it in just before the PM switchover. Some big discussions on /. about it as the news broke. There is also some new law being worked on to turn up the heat on ISPs ratting out traffic right now in the UK.

You gotta love the sweed's, their citizens knows whats right and fight for it, crazy amounts of respect to them and the people over a TPB. I watched the movie they released "steal this film" and it is eye opening, I suggest watching it if you haven't, it gives you an idea of what these guys/girls went through to provide us with free shyte and stand up for our freedoms.

I just hope that here in Canada we get something like that, cause right now we are pretty much stuck with the big 2, which both suck hard, one is slow and one spy's on you because it is a mutli media company that has invested interest in movies and TV
