Thread: BTN Vs BMTV vs TvT

Hey all,

Now as we all know, these are the most prominent specialised TV trackers.

So I thought about doing a comparison, for the potential torrenter looking for which tv tracker to get into.

Note that I am basing my difficult rating on how hard it is to seed there, and how hard it is to get into the tracker.

If you are looking for extensive reviews for the site, then the Tracker Reviews section is for you, if you are looking for a short and brief analysis then read on:

First off let me start with TvT (A.K.A TvT.ro)

TvT: Its honestly a great TV tracker, with alot of content, great speeds and generally quite good pre times for popular tv shows, and if you are looking for TV packs, then this tracker won't dissapoint, one thing it is lacking is an active IRC channel, most of the time its dead for hours on end, sadly this is the case with many trackers.

BMTV: So this most famous tracker, the distinguished BMTV tracker, is good, it has a ton of content, decent pre times but on alot of cases, TvT beats it 8/10 times, which is quite obvious with the TV packs. The IRC channel is pretty dead, not different from TvT in that case. However, it is very hard to seed there if you do not know how.

I've found that grabbing freshly aired tv shows off TvT or TL (TvT if they are HD, because all HD content on TvT is freeleech) and then cross seeding on BMTV is the best way to get a buffer. Just make sure you cross check file names, as the internal file naming at BMTV is different.

The other thing is that there is no freeleech on BMTV which is a pain in the ass.

Now I must say that for all of the difficulty and time you waste trying to get an upload buffer on this site its not worth it UNLESS you are looking for older tv shows, or you have the time and energy.

BTN: This is a ratio less tv tracker, so if you have low bandwidth then I would reccommend this to you, as long as you can seed the files for the minimum time. As far as content goes, this is a decent site, hasnt got the same amount of content as BMTV or even TvT, but its getting there, an added bonus for the site, is that it hosts tv series from Australia aswell. The speeds on new torrents are pretty good, and some good things are the double upload, and various extras like that for downloaders.

Pre times are pretty great, with alot of the shows being added 2-3 minutes after pre. One of the things that most impressed me with the site was its user interface, its very user friendly.

I was pleasantly surprised with the IRC channel though, its got so much activity going on there that you could spend all day on it if you're not careful :P I was also happy with the way the mods and admins interacted with new members, they were very polite and friendly. Answering questions to the point of even PMing on the site with detailed instructions on how to do something unrelated to BTN.

Speeds for the popular shows are good, and there is a nice feature that allows you to seed whether the person seeding has a 20MBIT+ upload connection (Lightning bolt) next to the torrent name. For some of the older stuff speeds arnt that good.



Difficulty for getting into this tracker is pretty high, as invites are hard to come by, however they do open their IRC channel to interviews, and the interview is quite easy if you have been in the torrent scene for a while. I will add that if they do open IRC interviews then its a chance not to be missed, as this site has the potential to become the best tv tracker.

Based on what I have looked at for deciding which is the best TV tracker, I have concluded that at the current time TvT is the best. For all the reasons I have already gone through. If you feel differently, then post your reasons below, and not just one sentence replies, put some thought into it and explain.

Very nice "brief" reviews :) I would have to agree on everything you said! With that, that's why I decided to drop BMTV. It's just way too hard to keep a decent ratio. Not worth the effort. If you download HD only, then TvT and BTN have more HD content anyways, and like Wrx_99 said, all HD is freeleech on TvT which is awesome!

Since you mentioned HD being freeleech on TvT I guess you mean TvT.ro aka Freshon.TV? Maybe you should clarify that since there is also TvT.com.

Aside from that, I couldn't agree more your evaluation of the sites. I recently thought about doing a comparison just like this, but you beat me to it xD

I'm also rather disappointed by BMTV. Considering how hard it is to seed there you'd expect there to be a worthwhile return compared to the other trackers, but I don't really see one. Given enough time I assume that BTN will catch up when it comes to rarer old shows too and BMTV will lose it's reason for existence in the long run.

just want to add my two cents on something my personal opinion is that BTN is the most desired tracker of the three and you are right about the IRC interview I stopped by to apply and did not get in not because of anything on my behalf but simply for being a member of this site I was told that being a member of an invite site was no good because of the people just asking and getting invites that if you really want invites you should apply yourself to the trackers you are a member of become active and join IRC and you will get want you want and so forth so very surprised to see these endorsement for their tracker when they do not agreed with what we are accomplishing here in our community sorry for straying a little off topic just thought I let you know what going on

Nice one ..i was a fan of bitmetv until btn opened and then i came to kno what a tracker btn was!!they have nice themes and some of the best features include
1)schedule
2)good pretimes
3)orderly arranged( gazelle)
4)easy to seed and dont have to worry about ratio
5)staff are very user friendly..
there are many other interesting stuff abt BTN which is not there in other trackers...so i would go with BTN!!

shadowbuild: You realize that practically no trackers at all endorse this site or others like it, no matter if trading is allowed or not? Take a look at the rules section of your favourite trackers and you'll find rules against public GAs in every single one of them.

That is the case with most high level trackers, quite simply for that question, you answer no. The reason why you use a different username over here is pretty much for that reason.

This attitude is actually fairly prevalent among tracker staff. Invite giveaways are generally viewed in the same light as trading, as both usually compromise security. There are a lot of staff out there that do view giveaways on sites such as T-I as simply trading as invites are often given away for rep/igivers/etc.

A good rule of thumb is to not admit to being a member of sites such as T-I; likely the main reason why your nick on T-I must be unique to T-I.

However, there are a few communities out there that are tolerated by most, if not all, tracker staff.

Back on topic, I think BTN will overtake BMTV in the very near future in terms of content. BTN can only grow bigger and better.

Now, if only there was a North American equivalent of TheBox. I've yet to see another TV site with as much unique content as TheBox (for British TV). It would be nice to see BTN actively recruiting cappers and generally fostering an environment where users contributed their own caps/rips.
