Thread: What and Waffles

Ok, so my next question...I am a member at both What and Waffles. Just got invites fairly recently. How many of you out there think that having What is enough? How many of you think that you need both? And why? The reason I ask is because I'm not a "hardcore" music fan, but I do enjoy high quality popular music. That's the key word..."popular". Do you think that I should be fine with just What.cd? As you can tell by my posts, I don't like hanging onto too many trackers. Just the ones I NEED :) Thanks again everyone!

Well,there should ne enough to have only one of them.Both are great and very useful.In case you have both you really are a happy music listener.

I think its better to have both, and to use both equally if possible. The reason for this is that large music trackers are heavily targeted by the music industry, and since what has a userbase of like 150,000 I am sure it is known and monitored just like Oink back in the day. So i guess it would be unlikely for these large trackers to survive forever, so its good to have a backup.

I think you should choose one of them to use it all the time ,i didnt try waffles but i think it is better .
And in the other account try to get something every while so you don't get ban because of inactivity ,and it will be back up for you like Sigma9 said.

i think what has a much biger content and so if you have what you dont need waffles but for safety should have them both

I first got Waffles invite thanks to T-I and I can say that I found almost everything
what I need there. Unfortunately I'm going only for FLAC since all the albums I found there I already have. My type of music is not so popular so I cannot find all the albums in FLAC but a lot of them are there. So if you are worried of ratioI find Waffles easier to seed. On every tracker I am I try to maintain ratio greater than 1 and Waffles is no exception. What has 3x more files than Waffles but seeding there is tougher. Ok they also have that great ratio policy but maintaining ratio greater than 1 is tougher. IMHO use both of them.

What.cd

Pros:

• By far the largest collection (>836,000 torrents vs ~300,000 @ Waffles)
• User-friendly ratio policy
• Collages
• Much better tracker software (The creators of Gazelle)
• Staffpicks are freeleech
• Easier to get invited if you can pass the interview

Cons:

• Strict rules
• Hard to find stuff to upload that isn't already on the site

Waffles

Pros:

• Easier to get into if you can't pass what's interview
• Nice bonus system (if you can gather enough bonus points you can get 24h free leech - I don't have to tell anyone how useful this is)
• Sometimes side-wide freeleech

Cons:

• Standard tracker software - IMO not very good for a music collection of that size
• Standard features of what cost bonus points at waffles (advanced search for example)
• Not so many "perfect" Flacs

Now I'm also new on both trackers, so I won't claim I'm an expert. If some of the points I made are wrong, feel free to correct me. But as I see it, what is superior, hands down. Though the suggestion of keeping Waffles as a backup incase what gets busted sounds good to me.

Actually i am from india and i cant get the what invite through irc as it is banned...u also know that what giveways are banned in giveways like these...so i always thought waffles was even though i didnt have waffles or what some 2 months back...Then i had my luck and within 1 week ,i had both what and waffles accounts...i started comparing between the two and i can tell u that WHAT.CD is the best n terms of quality and quantity...having what alone is more than sufficient for an average music lover and so is waffles but one thing is u wont find many stuff at waffles but that are easily found at what....also one thing that waffles beats what is in terms of seeding ...we can easily build up our ratio in waffles but not in what...so finally all i can say is that both are good trackers and both have all the popular stuff you are looking for ...so good luck ...keep both of them ...

Well i will say it this way, if you need a tracker only for popular music as you said i think that what.cd is enough for you. But if you want to download some older music you should get both of the trackers. Because it happend to me a few times that i was searching for an old album and i couldnt find it on what.cd but i then found it on waffles.fm and vice versa. So like someone previously stated, you're complete if you have both of them. And if you cant find an album that you're looking for on what and neither on waffles than its probable that it simply doesnt exist :p
