Default PTP - Why the renewed interest?

Hey, I was just wondering why there have been numerous members requesting for PTP and applying at multiple GAs for this tracker? Did I miss something in the past few weeks?

I've noticed JJ requested some bonus in the request section so maybe this triggered everything? Or was it our little discussion in IRC regarding the best movie tracker?

I'm a member there but I see no difference from what it was before. Don't get me wrong - I still think it's a great tracker, but why the sudden requests after sooooo long. Someone please enlighten me. Especially those requesting for invitations. Thanks and much appreciated.

Heh, funny you should mention this as I was just in the process of researching PTP. I read the review on here today after looking into good movie trackers and it caught my eye as something I would probably like a lot, seeing as how I've fallen in love with Gazelle-based trackers over the last few months (namely whatcd and BTN).

From my research it appears as though invites were closed for a while and I guess they are now back up-perhaps thats the reason for the requests. If that is indeed the case I guess we should soon be seeing some GAs for it too.

I'm guessing the re-opening of invites, and the fact that gaining entrance is now much harder, is contributing to the resurgence of interest in PTP. Also, it's such a great movie tracker - the best in my opinion. I always thought it didn't get enough attention.

Well, I can speak to this a little bit as I am one of the current requestors of an invite. I actually have a two-week old pending request over in the mid-level epic giveaway thread for PTP so I can't credit JJ's PTP points request as the impetus for my interest. Rather, I suppose it was noticing some solid endorsements of PTP on T-I and a love of movies that prompted me to initially apply for PTP and then follow up with a request thread. Not much more to it than that from my POV.

I have a request opened right now. I have 2 movie trackers already that I have buffered the ratio enough for now(still seeding like crazy). I remembered that I heard about some tracker before (PTP), So I rushed to the give invites section and found that nobody is currently giving away invites for now, So I just created a request without noticing that you guys have some new system, plus I put a request up because I want a decent member to invite me. Cheers!

Maybe I am not experienced enough to state an opinion, but I think it may be due to the fact that it is moving up in the levels. It also has an awful lot of positive feedback. I know that sounds a lot like what Jenna said, but you can't argue facts.

There was a poll on what was considered the best movie tracker that I had started, maybe that has a little to do with it. Best movie Tracker.

Rarity + great tracker = high demand

I think this pretty much hits the nail on the head.
Most people want to have an awesome movie collection and I believe that PTP has become harder to be invited to over the past couple of months. People always want what they can't get.
It is only classified as a low/mid level tracker but if people are voting it as the best movie tracker they have, it is surely higher than that and because invites are rare.

I would stay away personally, until this gets resolved.

^^First of all, this thread is about why their is renewed interest in PassthePopcorn, not about their staff's personal issues. Second of all, the staff member in question is no longer associated with PassthePopcorn. Finally, there is already a thread about that. No need to drag up old dirt.

I don't support child porn, but one mans perversions have nothing to do with the tracker.

That's like saying when a person is convicted of murder you should worry about everyone at his place of business being a potential killer as well.

As far as the real topic goes -

I got a P2P invite months back, when I was rather new here, and didn't know what the hell cross seeding was. It always seemed like a good site, but I had trouble without a seedbox. Dropped to about .6 ratio. Haven't touched it since (just log in to keep it active). Now after reading this I've started to cross seed with some IPT movies, and hopefully build a nice buffer in the next few days.

I'll make getting a higher rank here a top priority and see if we can't get some more invites flowing through T-I.

Need help? PM me and I'll find you the answer.
