Default Bit Torrent Client for Mac OSX 10.4

I own a newer Windows 7 PC and an old Mac OSX 10.4 that I acquired from a family member. On Windows 7 I run uTorrent 2.0 as my client. This has worked great and it seems to be the only client that is accepted across the board at all tracker sites. This weekend I am leaving town for 10 days to work and I'm not sure what, if any, internet access I will have on my trip. For this reason I'm in the process of transferring my downloaded files and .torrent files to my Mac so I can leave my torrents seeding while I'm gone. That is where my problem is. uTorrent is only available for Mac OSX 10.5 and up and the Vuze client that I used to use on the Mac is either banned or not recommended on most of my trackers. I'm beginning to run out of time to figure this out because I have to work all week and today is my only day off to do this before I leave. I do have some stuff open in Vuze and it says it's seeding but there's no activity. I have tried a program called CrossOver 8.0 that is supposed to let you run Windows apps on Mac but that didn't work either(probably OSX 10.5 and up as well). Can anyone PLEASE give me any suggestion on how to remedy this issue so I don't lose 10 days worth of seeding and/or get banned for "hit and run" while I'm away?

Try using either Transmission or rtorrent. They both should work and should be accepted at almost all trackers. Transmission is a really good client for Mac and is used by a lot of users across trackers. rtorrent u may have trouble installing/compiling.

Thanks MikeD. I downloaded the most recent Transmission that supports my OS and I have it up and running. It looks like I'm connected and seeding though slowly and I am yet to check my tracker sites to see if all my data is being relayed correctly but all seems well. The only thing I'm running across is that when I open a large torrent that I only downloaded som of the files for it wants to open them all even if I pick only the one's I've already downloaded. Any idea what I can do to stop that from happening?

Your welcome H1N1. Im not 100% sure since i havent used Transmission in such a long time. U may need to open up "preferences" and look around at all your current settings to see if any thing is set wrong. Also u may want to try and make a different "dir" for the incomplete downloads (partial downloads) to see if that will fix it.

Other then that im not sure why its not working, as it should. There has to be a setting that is not set correctly for the partial to work. If u still cant get it, post screens of the settings and ill look at them and help u further.

    I love transmission.

When I've had to do that in the past, I've unselected all the files in the tracker when I open it. So when that window pops-up where you can select what you want to download, I select all and uncheck everything. Then it just loads what you already have.

    Does that help?

Thanks pzeitgeist, that worked. Now my only problem is that RevTT has banned the Transmission client and supposedly the Vuze client too but Vuze is working with it and Tranmission is not. I guess I'll just have to have two clients on my Mac and leave them both running simultaneously while I'm out of town. No big deal I guess.

Bummer. I hate it when clients are banned--especially with a Mac. We don't have as many options as everyone else.

Yeah for sure. At least if you have a newer Mac you can use uTorrent, which I prefer anyways but if you have an older Mac it makes it kinda tough.

Yeah, uTorrent is pretty awesome on the Mac, but then again they've done a great job on all platforms.

It's my personal client of choice, but I usually recommend Transmission to others who are new to the scene as it is without a doubt the most user friendly client around.
