Thread: Biggest russian tracker changed their ratio system.

The biggest russian tracker rutracker.org (5 million members) has recently changed its ratio system. It used to be the standard "keep your ratio above 0.3" type - now it's all about the time you seed.

The new system:
When you sign up you can download 3 torrents per day (of any size). If you want to download more you have to get "time bonuses". For every torrent you seed for 3 hours you get 1 "time bonus". These "time bonuses" accumulate. For each torrent over 3 per day you have to pay 5 "time bonuses".

This new system caused huge disputes among members. Most of them think it's a very bad system because it neglects the big ratio buffers that people have created over the years of torrenting.



What do you think about this "time bonuses" system? While you're at it - what do you think is the best ratio system for a private tracker?

Everything new has to be tested, but it is really bad for your ratio buffer.
Maybe we see the systen on other trackers.

I understand how they are trying to fix the problem that people like me with slow connections have, but what if you wanted to download a whole heap of small files, only 3 per day is very limiting.

Its very easy to accumulate the points, 3 torrents and one day seeding will accrue to 24 points and enough to earn more slots!!

its a nice innovative non-ratio system, may b other trackers may include this in their system !!

Peoples with seedboxes are sad, many peoples make upload like 10 kb\s, its very bad.

Thinking about it, this will remove the need for seedboxes, which could mean that the tracker will get demonoid speeds, not really good private tracker speeds.
