    Default Australian Internet Filter!

Can anyone believe this may actually happen? No Clean Feed - Stop Internet Censorship in Australia
Is Australia to become another China or Middle Eastern country where we are filtered?!
The Government is pushing to install an Internet Filter for Australia's Internet. It is supposed to be to protect our children from websites where they could be preyed on by pedophiles, but it is estimated 80% of websites blocked will not be related, and most child sex predators target children by IM, so what is the point?!

I live in New Zealand and every law you get implemented gets implemented here with in 1-2 years maximum as our government can't think for themselves... So No, I don't.

Disgusting fact though, NewZealand has 4.5million population, in the last 12 months there have been over 1million online searches for hardcore child porn.

So in a way it'd be good, just don't let it affect my torrenting addictions. lolz.

But if it is as srs as you say. (80% Unrelated sites blocked) then pfft, no.

Still, overall is a no from me...

I'm seriously resigned to our fate.

With the "opposition" adopting a wait and see approach, there is basically no one in the major parties willing to stand up for privacy, anti-censorship, and civil liberties.

    Time to emigrate...

I'm always opposed to all types of censorship. There will always be ways for child predators to get around this. I feel the real victims of this implementation will not be the child predators but rather the average (sane) internet user.

Filters cannot be perfect. They will block access to perfectly alright sites and grant access to some obscene ones. Also filters can be bypassed in some way shape or form.

No filtering in Australia. I hope it doesn't happen and the younger voters stamp it out.

This has been argued for months now, Conroy (The Politician pushing it) simply isn't listening. Childrens Charities, Major ISP's and many other large organisations are saying it is too costly and too ineffective to be of any use.

It won't be illegal to bypass the filter, or to teach people how to bypass the filter, Hence why there has already been some lectures teaching the elderly, non-technologically minded people how to bypass the filter

I've heard about this filter thing few years back, hasn't it been implemented yet? Well in my opinion, I wouldn't want Australian internet to be filtered, that's for sure!
